May have to write a nice letter to Office of Fair Trading as a $660 increase is hideous!

Do it, online quote listed as 1562.00 so guess what.... They can stick that up their a$$.

Will call tomorrow to confirm, but lumleys sounds like the go!

OP is from Melbourne, and i dont think NRMA insure VIC.

My friend has his 34 GTR insured for 50k with just cars. 1yr ago $1500pa, this year they tried to raise to $1900pa, but he got them to agree to $1600 p/a . I was so shocked when they quoted $2k p/a for $13000 agreed value on my stagea.

Hey all, got a bit of info off just cars... Basically Due to weather issues around aus over the last year re- insurance has gone up ( insurance providers for insurance companies) looks around 35- 50 percent.

Just cars, aami all owned by suncorp which took a big hit in the floods etc

Gonna get quotes of lumley spec vehicles anyone else gone with them?

Currently I have Shannon's at $1550 for agreed value $28k, hasn't changed in years.

Lumleys price was for $18k value which is about right, might have to switch as its a massive saving

What are they like with listing modifications?

Only mod is sway bars, $28k agreed value was a quote 4 years ago that never changed just kept sending out renewal, its a tough decision, do I save money now or make some if it's written off. .

will probably save money now. . still undecided. .

WTF, is this for real, this old thread . What type of insurance cover would that have been for, or is that mate's rates.

The best Lumley's could do for me was this, Feb 2017

Autech 350s 6 sp

Original quote $ 2, 786. 00,

Amended quote, $ 2, 349. 20 (after a firm get the flying fu#k away from me). There was no third offer. Lol !!

Comprehensive cover,

Value $20,000, (I wanted replacement or $ 30,000 + )

$1000 excess,

No salvage rights.

That would mean in affect that if I had this cover at the quote I was given by Lumley's, first off I'd be feeling pretty riptoff n broke,

Secondly after just 5 YEARS they would have charged well over the odds in my view and well over half the purchase price of my staggie in the first place. Doesn't seem quite right to me. The ex recons I'm a tight arse,

Rego, green slip and insurance due in six weeks can anyone point me in a better direction than this over blown rip.

NRMA are about $900'ish recently, Shannons similar amount, but thats rating 1, over 40 north shore.

Cheers paramour, I think we both noticed the nth shore part of that picture. I live in merrylands (car is garaged) which has been a very high crime area in the past, ( mostly bikie related, ie ice dealing and shootings ) ,so perhaps that would account for Lumley's outrageous quote. Yeah right!!! So we will try some of the others here in the next few days , see if the merrylands factor comes into play with them. Cheers mate ,

    • I seem to the be only person that is using a Haltech 2500 on an NA motor, I've installed a Bosch DBW throttle body to the OEM intake manifold and am having problems maintaining AFR even with the wideband o2.  It will run extremely rich at idle and up to redline, but under load it will go extremely lean in the 20s and i'm essentially having to rev it over 4k and feather the clutch to get it up to speed.  I've read a few other threads of about the butterfly, it seems removing the vacuum to it is supposed to have it remain open, i've noticed no difference under 4k with the vacuum line to it plugged.  I'm hoping someone here has had luck using the NA manifold with Haltech, and if they happen to have a tune for it.
    • I don't know any details, but I really wouldn't be surprised if they do it as a LHD only version, at least initially.
    • Thanks for the replies everyone. Definitely a coolant push. Oil catch can is empty and always has been. As the engine is out now I'll be having a good look over things. I do have some detonation on the piston tops from a trigger issue back about 5 years ago. I felt it and shut off then bought a new ecu and changed the trigger. Never been an issue since. It never hurt the power, its made almost 80hp more since that incident but I will pull the bearing caps to take a look. If the bearings are damaged I will do a bottom end refresh. Head is being re conditioned at the moment and the block will be cleaned and checked to ensure it's flat. I'll go with a kameari gasket and see how it ends up. The other thing I'm not super keen on is the cylinder colours. I suspect this is from the inlet manifold. The plan will be to put it back together, retune and then stick a plazmaman billet inlet on it and retune. I'm happy with the power, if it makes a little more, then great, but I would rather just make everything more efficient at this stage.
    • Maybe they'll look to do a bunch of presales to help inject some cash fast for their financial issues...
    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
