Hey everyone just brought a r32 gtr new to the fourm thing to

and its dead stock nothing at all done to it ive been told its one of the cleanest in Aus

was shocked when i found it so stock still has restrictors in it.

Is it worth keeping it stock for future sale?

if not what are the best modifications to do?

rip the engine out, build a 3L motor, use your head, get a 6 boost made, bolt on a T51r, a fuel system to support e85, have PPG make you a dogbox, and go rip mega 4wd skids......

or keep it stock and park it in the shed.....

I bought my one stock like that too. Didn't last long!! Get some cam gears, nice exhaust with front pipes and 1 bar boost and it'll be a nice daily with about 230-240 rwkw, that's was my first stage of mods and never had a single issue. Plenty for a street car.

Next was turbos (steel wheel stockies) clutch, decat and tune with power fc. This got me 287rwkw and I haven't had an issue for over 4 years now, still going strong!!

But before I did any of this, I did a full major service and all fluids changed.

Hope this helps.

Major service and change all the oil in the car, good tyres and break pads

Then decide where to go from there mate...soo many different routes to take

this, make sure the car is healthy first then when you decide what you want for the car make a plan and try and stick to it, lol

This is what i did:

Do major service replacing all fluids engine, diffs, gearbox etc. Change timing belt, cam gears water pump.

I also changed the clutch because i knew i was gonna change the turbo's later.

Change the exhaust it if it doesn't have one. change the front pipe and cat at minimum.

If you still got money left over buy -7's or -9's.

Get a Nistune, power fc, Link or whatever your tuner prefers depending on your budget and get a tune.

At the end of the day you get keep the car stock but a stock GTR isn't that exciting.

DO the maintenance stuff first.

outside of 'standard servicing' items like fluids and the timing belt etc, you should change the oil pump. the oil pump is the most common major failure in those cars..

if your gonna do that think hard about what else you want to do as it would be best to do it all at once.

if you do decide you want to work it up (new turbos) prepare to spend 10 grand at a minimum. Not Kidding.

otherwise just put a dump back exhaust on it and drive it around lol happy days

Dude you don't have to break the pump to spin a bearing. They have oil control issues from factory which causes bearings to spin. Plus its an old engine with god knows how many km. Factory didn't do too well in that area.

Depends what oil pump drive you have too. If its a small shitty one then the crank has to come out to get a collar fitted. It ain't worth all this trouble on a standard motor. It's not as easy as just getting one and bolting it on. Different pumps out there to suit different applications. Best to talk to a workshop who specialise in rb motors.

Factory fixed their mistake with the late 32, 33 34 engines. Oil pump drive on the crank was too narrow, so they widened it.

Get a collar fitted to the crank or get a later model crank.

    • Hi...so a "development" here aswell The swap is "done" and car went "test drive" BUT it seems the clutch(maybe gearbox?) is a little bit sad? I bought this clutch kit https://justjap.com/products/xtreme-heavy-duty-organic-clutch-flywheel-kit-nissan-skyline-r31-r32-r33-push-type "Problem" is that the first gear is hard to put into and it seems that the clutch is not disengaged. It was not the problem with the old clutch...(or like sometime the first gear would not get as easy specialy when the fluid was cold) So? Can it be like...bad "install" or is the clutch wrong ((it should not have been) i done research to get the right one) Or is this "normal" with new clutch and needs to be break in?

    • Hey everyone, Wanted to pick some brains about this issue I'm having with rebuilding my 33 rack (PN is 49001-19U05). All of the tutorials/videos I've seen online are either R34 or S Chassis racks which seem to be pretty straightforward to disassemble but this process doesnt carry over to my rack. Few of the key differences that I've noted The pinion shaft on the other racks bolt on with 3 torx bolts: Whereas my rack bolts on with 2 allen head bolts: These changes are pretty inconsequential but the main difference is how you pull the actual rack out of the housing. The other skyline/s chassis racks can be taken out by tapping the rack out of the body with a socket and it just slides right out. I'm unable to do that with my rack because there's a hard stop at the end that doesn't let the seal/shaft be tapped out. Can also see a difference in the other end of the rack where mine has a notch that looks like you're able to use a big wrench to unthread 2 halves of the rack whereas the other racks are just kinda set in with a punch. My rack: Other racks: TLDR; Wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt this specific model of steering rack for the R33 and if there were any steps to getting it done easier or if I should just give this to a professional to get done. Sorry if this post is a bit messy, first one I've done.
