My first R34 came with brand new Ziex, they were potentialy the scariest rubber I've ever driven on. Even on a bone dry road I'd have to be careful taking tight turns as the car would 4 wheel slide. And yes, a complete 'surprise' 360 was easily achieved in the wet.....from an unmodified n/a that's not good.

Im surprised this sort of crap can even be sold - there must be some sort of contributing factors, If they are doing this on all cars so to speak then what the hell is wrong with these people. How many of the avg joe public even know what size rubber they need let alone whats good and whats not. Too bad if granny needs to squeeze the brakes in the wet.... I believe in driving to the conditions of the road and my car, the avg person dosent, They think a car is a car, Hence will stomp the bakes, cut people off or turn corners to fast in wet and without knowing whats what its a recipe for disaster.

i know its ridiculous...i dont understand how they are still being sold ANYWHERE.

fitted some ku31s , havnt had a chance to properly test them in the wet , but in the dry they are fantastic and in slight drizzle conditions they didnt slip at all, even on boost

The KU31's are a pretty decent tyre on a budget. Had several sets; they last pretty well & grip wet & dry. Not even too noisy.

I've got Kumhos on the CX-7 after replacing the Yokohamas, this was a big move considering I've always been a Yoko fanboi. To be honest, they're quieter, grippier and wearing better than the Yokohamas and weren't as obscenely priced. Definately changed my perception of the brand.

I was also a longtime Yokohama buyer; they crap on every Yoko I've ever bought.

i had ziex on 2 cars (at about the same time, since i was able to get them cheap). one were 235/45/17's on a magna, and the other were 195/50/15's on the missus SSS (stock suspension, wheels, etc). both where dead set slippery in the wet. weren't too bad in the dry, but the wet was pretty shocking. currently got toyo teo plus on the pulsar and they are much better. got some cheap nasty chinese crap on my commodore at the moment. they have more grip than the ziex did.

I'll get flamed for this but I've got 235/30/19 nankangs all around on the Z32 and so far they feel fairly good, only driven in the wet properly once with them, but it wasn't so bad.

I had Nankang S once on my 4WS 4th Gen Prelude.

get them to dial a little bit of camber out 1.25 is good and run some toe in on the rear i this will help traction in the wet and dry substancialy i run o.5 each side 1mm total with is more fro less grip for drifting but running 1mm each side will help a lot i could take corners at 60on a round about before mine wouls start to slip it has coilovers sway bars etc but u have to gently flow the wheel if u jerk ft or brake entering the corner or mid corner u shift the weight of the rear to the front and can cause a spin very fast .....

Since we've moved onto the topic of crappy tyres... I've never understood why people buy sports cars and then buy cheap, crap and potentially lethal tyres. What's the point of doing that when tyres basically make or break a car? There are plenty of decent mid-spec tyres available that won't break the bank and that will at least give decent levels of handling.

Tyre are consumable, other mods are considered to be more permanent.

Terrible oil will cause damage to your engine regardless of how you drive it. Terrible tyres cause control of the car to be lost at a lower threshold.

falken Ziex tyres are fine... its the rear width...

I was running 17' falken 235/45's and never a problem even when they were worn out...

---front tyres wore on the inside coz of camber then were switched to the back

that said it had bilstein suspension, and always handled twice as good as stock susp.

I liked to go sideways and in the wet it was pretty fun. - did hit some oily patches of road and they become dangerous(like every tire)

wider rear tyres(265's) means less grip in the wet.... water cant get out of the tyre...

235's on the back would give you more grip in the wet.

this is on r33 gtst, 3' exhaust.

ziexs arent fine. they are terrible , and this has been proven time and time again among hundreds if not thousands who where unfortunate enough to buy those tyres.

The ziex i had were 235 and they were shit, as were the 195s on the missus car, and that was the standard size. Every other tyre I've had on the missus car has been fine

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.   
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.

    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
