is it possible to get a pic of the cable linking the laptop to the PFC?? I have the software but I need to make the cable. I am trying convert the interface to english (although I'm told the US Power Excel tuners have an english version).

Power Excel software allows you to flash the PFC with newer bios... that's a major difference that the datalogit dosen't have.

I have a manual in japanese on how to tune a PFC, so hopefully I'll learn how to do it once I've got all the parts. Not that I'll be selling or offering any services (that means don't PM me wanting to buy it).

And there are no authorised tuners of PFC's in Aust afaik, let alone any licensed software owners or certified technicians.

thanks frankie..glad your impressed...i didnt want to brag to much here as they came here to tune my car..which isnt quite ready so i can't really quote from experience..the best indication is from his customers say...

funkymokey: i think there is more to it that just coping the cable...the software alone can't just be bought by any one..you must be qualified and then after that its over $10kAUD.

then investment in a lamba o2 sensor..over $1500. then knock sensor then tune...

and to think the NZ software haven't already tried to copy it..are u crazy? :P

its prob just left to the professionals..im sure any one who drives a turbo car can afford it and its probably the best investment from your car money could buy...and at more than half the price of any of there competitors here who have the geniene raw deal..why not.

funky, i'll get a picture next week as thats when im going back. seems as though you're putting in soo much effort for little gain. why not let an experienced tuner do it all for you?

geoff, cheap laptop? id say just an old ibm thinkpad. but if it aint broke dont fix it and if it works why try to keep up with the jones's? decent tuning software? i'd go as far as to say probably the best?

thank you for all the enquirees today calls and emails, inbox is almost full :P

general thought is this is going that people think they will have to robb a bank in order to afford it..

Average cost so far hasnt been over $300AUD...

they have about 2 spots left this week before they leave on Sunday.

dont miss out, book now! call me now 0055-NEED-POWER. :( sorry

in all seriousnes please email [email protected] or call me 0411GTR R32 (0411 487 732)

just a side note, i have no financial interest in this and neither has judd. from the looks of things judd is just helping out a mate which is most honourable!

now, the other point is, I am happy with the result thus far (will report back next week) but i reserve a small amount of skeptisism because i was also happy with the results i had just after c&v's and the hitman's tunes...time will tell if this tune is the real deal.

except for the fact you had a knock measuring 158+ under full throttle and load before it was tuned by PExcel? :P

we know that, and that's why he is from oversea..

My car have been tuned by some local reputable (in someway) of workshop, but most could not deliver what they promise, maybe I was not lucky enough..

for this tune, I'm happy the result, and he will tune the power band where you use most..and just spent on dyno 1.5 hours, we got the result with very healthy af reading and minor knock reading on the street..for those people you want to know what kind of setting I have can click on my signature..

very pleased to see the result..

  • 4 weeks later...

.... well give me another week or two and ill catch up with those of you that are in June.

So franks, can you report back on whether the car made any more power, changed the power delivery at all etc etc?

Also the Power Fc has a fuel cut rev limit, so if you have say a 8,200rpm rev limit and you bounce it off the rev limit in 1st and 2nd gears while doing a 1/4 mile run.... is there any real world effect of leaning out the engine, higher combustion temperatures etc?

Can I assume that the Z32AFM worked ok or are you still using the standard item?

Expect my call tomorrow sometime Judd.. Need to get the gearbox back in first, but Im intrested

mark: z32 is still in the garage :) thats PHASE 2 which is coming shortly :D

roy: nothing emperical to report on sorry. performance is as i originally stated...seat of the pants feel still feels impressive especially with my modified avcr settings (i think i have it better than jimmy just quietly :)) knock sensor still remains quiet (as it should) and even with the lesser fuel brands (ie. opticrap and 8000) the tune is still very impressive going from my knock levels vs performance.

i dont know what "bouncing off the rev limiter" means sorry ;)

i'd say no it wouldnt otherwise nissan would've put something a little bit more preventative than just a rev limiter???

    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day   Highway gets as low as 10l/100km on my end so I'm not as worried about it being a mechanical issue. More likely just the tune on the haltech.
    • While I was waiting for the new parts to come in for the charge pipe and radiator I decided to do some turbo modification. The drive pressure (exhaust backpressure) was a lot higher that I thought it should be. For 32lbs of boost drive was 55lbs. The turbine housing is a 1.10AR and my turbo builder has suggested to go to a 1.25AR. To test if a larger AR would do anything to reduce drive pressure AND not spend any money I decided to hog out the divider in my current housing. I removed it from the inlet and the whole way through the housing.  After reassembly and testing it doesn't look like this modification did anything for reducing drive pressure or requiring more fuel (making more power). Oh well, it was worth a shot. We'll get some data at the track if it makes it past the 60ft. I also machined a $7 shift knob off Amazon to fit my Stillway shifter since I didn't like the Stillway shift knob. Next on the list was the radiator replacement and fabrication of a new intercooler tube that had no silicon coupler. No pictures of this - I was short on time each night after work to get this done and didn't stop to take pictures.  Next was to get the clutch disks out and replaced. Previously when installing the dogbox I had ordered a set of the same sintered iron disks I had been running because I switched to the 26-spline input shaft. I thought it was odd that they didn't have any markings or brand name on them like all my old disks had but installed them anyway. At the track I could not get the clutch to lock up using my normal strategies. After two track nights I reached out to the clutch manufacturer and ask their thoughts. They said they had to switch the material out because they were having trouble getting the original material and that this new material would not take to being slipped very well.  So out with the first set of 26-spline disks and in with the correct material 26-spline disks. While I had the trans out I added an inspection/service hole. I've wanted one of these for a while. Now I can have a look at things and change the front cover shimming when needed (clutch wear). I hustled and got the clutch change done in a few hours on a Saturday. Hopped in the car and drove home. On the way home I did a 1-3 pull. When shifting from 2nd to 3rd the core plug in the back of the cylinder head popped out and dumped all the coolant. Thankfully I was only 30 seconds from home and coasted it there. Datalog showed nothing unusual and 2.5psi of coolant pressure. That plug has been in there since 1992 but I guess it worked its way out. Pulled the trans AGAIN and replaced the plug, JB welded it in, and made a brace. Also deleted the head drain I had added in during the bearing issue fiasco.  I am currently changing my boost control plumbing to make it cleaner. After that is done I'll make another attempt at getting past the 60.
