Newcastle/central Coast Cruise To Broke And Back! 2/12/12

Recommended Posts

Hey all!

Its our 3rd cruise and this time were going broke!

Martin and I sused out the route today and we both agree the road is better then Old Pac! (much of the same just heaps longer fun bits)

The roads are a mixture of everything you could ask for in the country, wide open roads, tight hair pins, bumps, turns, sweeping bends, old bridges (low lip safe) and great scenery for passengers haha.

Date: 2/12/12

Meet time: 9:00

Leave time: 9:30~

Lunch time: 1130~

Finish time: 1:30~

If your running late and dont have anyones number pm me and ill get the email and reply.

The meeting point for everyone will be in one spot as there isnt any good spots to meet on the outskirts of newcastle and central coast so we will all meet here:/

Directly west of toronto, bit out of the way of people i know but atleast there will be no confusion on the day as its just off the freeway and we will have people coming from sydney, all along the coast, newcastle, maitland, cessnock, EVERYWHERE!

Oh and dont worry south people because the cruise finishes at your door step.

theres a lot parking as shown here where to park, try and get right up the back as we dont want to get in the way of anyone:

From here we will follow the route shown on the map below, the only thing close to traffic will be going through cessnock where we will be patient and give way to EVERYONE.

its a small town and no one cares about your BOVs, straight pipes or gates (hahah) except for us! so save it for the country and be as quiet as you can as respect for members for the public!! (and to keep bad attention of us!!)

From broke "C" to the end of our cruise is an AWESOME ROAD!! the drive to cessnock is a nice cruisy hwy with nice scenery and a few twisties in the middle.

the reason for our detour up the top of the map is to avoid coilover busting bumps that are the worst ive ever seen, this detour avoids all those so no doors fall off our cars!!!

We will be stopping for lunch at wollombi pub "D" who told us they can handle 40 people coming in, ill call them just to be sure they put more staff on when we get closer to the day.

Martin spotted the 400g steak for 23 bucks on the menu!

A photo spot has been chosen infront of a open meadow with a bit of mountain behind it that all the photo nuts will froth over, a passing local said there is barely any traffic so we should have time to park on a slight angle on the side of the road and get some nice shots :)

After that we will go further south which involves a few hair pins and then opens up to a 100 zone (which i could barely maintain) and to our end location for a drink at a cafe if needed and we split from there :action-smiley-069:

Ofcoarse on this cruise we will be sticking to the speed limit as we have done on our other ones, i have just driven this and the speed limit is more then enough fast enough to enjoy.

Remember this is a cruise not a race, race day is at wakefield in nov,

We WILL:

Give way to everyone and everything!

Stick to the speed limit

NOT hoon

NOT be loud and stupid, ESPECIALLY in towns (low rpm!)

Have a great day like on our other cruises

ANY CAR IS WELCOME, ANY PERSON IS WELCOME, AS LONG AS YOU ARE BEHAVED AND HAVE THE RIGHT ATTITUDE!!!!

    • Just trying to get my head around this. At 5psi of boost, you turn on your wmi pump, and then you're using a 3000cc injector, to allow flow upto the actual engine, where you have your 6x200cc injectors and a 500cc injector. If the above is correct, what advantage are you obtaining by having the 3000cc injector blocking flow, is this just incase a line breaks between that injector and the motor you can stop flow immediately? Or are the 6x200cc and 500cc less injectors and just spray nozzle?
    • Welcome! New member myself, but I had an R33 back in 2002. Best advice I could give, based on my experience: if you're running the factory turbo, be very conservative with boost. I made the mistake of just fiddling around with the boost controller and cranking the boost for fun, and the end result was my intake pipes popping off frequently from the constant deluge of oil that was being blown into the recirc by the stressed-out turbo, which itself was siphoning oil from the engine and farting it out both sides of its centre bearing (or something to that effect). If I could do it all again, I would have gotten a new turbo and had a tune dialled in professionally and then just left it alone! Funny you mention the metal shavings in the gearbox, as I had the same thing - the probe plug (magnetic drain plug, essentially) would come out caked with shavings. At least it was doing its job. Not sure if that's just sacrificial wear and part of the deal, or if my gearbox was shagged, but I wasn't abusing it. Enjoy the R33 - they're a dying breed, and if they weren't $35k+ on CarSales in Queensland, I might have picked up one of those again, instead of the 370GT I own now (though I'm loving the 370GT, that big 3.7L V6 just hits different).
    • Howdy folks. I owned an R33 back in 2002, which was thoroughly beyond my capacity (financially speaking) to maintain/insure, so we parted ways in 2004. Fast forward 21 years (to literally yesterday, in fact) and I'm now the proud owner of a 2007 V36 370GT. I'm happily surprised by how much power the VQ37VHR makes, compared to the RB25DET, considering the latter is turbocharged. I had planned to add a turbo at some point but I'm on the fence about whether I'll even need it (though I do love the sudden onset of extra torque). Any other 370GT owners around the traps, I'd love to hear about your experiences with this car (good and bad).
    • Perhaps the answer is... more jacks!* *proper jacks must be used.
    • I NEVER think about using a scissor jack unless there is absolutely no other alternative. f**king things are dangerous, annoying and stupid.
