hey all, recentley picked up a auto r34 gtt 4 door and im not sure what boost it should be running

mods are

t04e stage 3 turbo

external wastegate

3 1/2 straight thru exhaust turbo back to a nur spec cannon

greddy fmic

spitfire coils

tomei fpr 90 psi

100 oct premium

its running 14 psi at the moment as is is that too much or can it go more every where i have looked has suggested 14 on a stock turbo is the limit but is that the limit for the turbo or the tune

thankyou

Standard ECU?

That will be your issue, I'm suprised you managed to run 14psi through a bigger turbo on the stock ECU and it works.

I dont understand what a T04e stage 3 turbo is...... has it been worked to flow more?

Either way a T04 is much bigger then stock so I would probably stick it on a dyno to check AFR's or wind the boost down to be safe

or get an aftermarket ECU and push it

well ive had it up to 17 - 18 psi before by accident and was surprised that i never hit fuel cut im pretty sure it is a stock engine and ecu apart from them mods turbo specs are

Inlet Diameter: 4"

Outlet Diameter: 3"

Compressor Wheel: .57 Trim

A/R Compressor: .50 A/R

A/R Turbine: .63 A/R

forged compressor wheel

what boost do you suggest for the time being as the nearest dyno is atleast 500k

if you bought the car and it was running 14psi and you cant hear any detonation etc then I guess it will be O.K

I wouldnt wind the boost up put it that way. Remove the passenger kick panel and see if it has an aftermarket ECU or piggyback. Sounds like it must have something to be able to hit those boost levels.

See what you can find

The whole combination of mods sounds weird, maybe the previous owner is telling fibs?

What boost guage are you running and where is it readig its pressure from?

What boost control method?

Its either not not a std ecu or its not hitting those boost levels or its a time bomb...

blitz dual ebc

reading boost from the stock sender

not sure where the turbo is from i was told it is a t3/t4 t04e stage 3 from the owner it doesent look like a ebay special but it could be fpr was set when i got it havent played with it what should that be set on?

had a mate come look at it this morning he does alot with silvias he adjusted the fpr for me its at 55 now

apparentley it has a mine ecu i think he said but he also said that 14 psi on the bigger turbo will be maxing out my injectors

then he said that he didnt think they made a mine ecu compatiable with tiptronic auto

FPR would have been set so high to allow the stock injectors to keep up... Bad idea to turn it down from where it was set. Though it is also a bad idea to keep running it as is regardless.

a genuine 57 trim will flow in the region of 400 to 450 hp

buy some genuine 600cc+ injectors

throw away your fpr (or set it back to 1:1 rising rate)

get a decent fuel pump

get a standalone ecu

put it on the dyno and tune until you start seeing your intake temps blow out (turbo efficiency range exceeded) or you run into some sort of restriction

the auto box may cause you some issues ...

Turn the boost down and drive it gently till its fixed or you could be looking at a new engine.

Take the car to a tuner and get him to have a look at the Mines ecu to see if its tunable (most are not).

If not buy a stock R34 auto ecu and get a Nistune chip put in it. Get some Neo friendly injectors 550 or better.

Look in the tank and see if you have a new fuel pump. If not, buy one and install it if you can or if not add it to the injectors.

You will need a genuine Z32 afm (and plug) if you haven't already got one.

Ask around and find a good tuner (in another town if necessary) and hand him all the bits (or install the bits and tow the car to the tuner) and get it tuned (point out, although he should notice, that the FPR needs adjusting). If nothing has been damaged it should go well.

In the meantime baby the car - no mega boosting, no skids etc.

    • Hi all. Been a while but things are moving along. I just have something that I am wondering about. Since I will use OEM turbo oil pumbing, I got myself a new bolt, the one that goes into the engine block oil feed. As I recall (and see visually) this bolt comes restricted with I think a 1.7mm hole? Not quite sure but it was something around that size. The turbos have 1mm restrictor bolts installed, as necessary due to ball bearings and my higher oil pressures. Can I now just use that OEM bolt with the 1.7mm hole in for the engine block or will this actually be too much oil flow restriction and I have to drill it out first? In my head it would make sense for the bolt to be at least 2mm wide as both turbos take "1mm of oil flow". Do let me know if my logic is flawed here, I just want to make sure I don't kill my turbo bearings with too little oil. Don't know if I can trust the saying I read somewhere that ball bearing turbos essentially only need an oil mist
    • There are several aftermarket options available, from not-too-painful moneyhttps://justjap.com/collections/driveshafts-bearings/products/d-max-reinforced-replacement-rear-driveshaft-set-fits-nissan-s13-s14-s15-r32-r33-r34-c35 and  https://justjap.com/products/crank-motorsport-billet-rear-axles-fits-nissan-skyline-r33-gts-t-r34-gt-t?srsltid=AfmBOorQk4xkGUa98kO7v2ePLUiNt-HRrM2AwWNw9mbSIVE1ujBVwY__, all the way up to The Driveshaft Shop https://driveshaftshop.com/skyline-cv-axles/
    • Yeah based on old XRC5964S specs, it looks to be roughly GTX3576R sized? But this 5964S compressor will flow 90lb airflow somewhat similar to the compressors in both the GTX3584RS or G35-1050.. I fully expected the 0.64 rear A/R to choke up top - seems way too small from typical convention - but these are seemingly beneficial over the prior 0.82 results.. Be interesting to see if he comments on the EFR question in that thread - he mentioned in a prior video that BW EFR's were the "cats pajamas 10 years ago", but by the sounds of things all his kits have been using Xona for quite a while now.
    • Yeah it’s still got the oem manual gearbox and clutch, only kinda mods are a blow off valve, coil overs, and a aftermarket intercooler. Also had it for about 2 months now with a lovely midnight purple paint on it.
    • Yeeeppp, been following a lot of the testing on the latest Xona stuff and there are some mental results.  He also went over 1000hp @ 4 hubs on his Mainline with a XRE6364S (63mm) which was also well into the 20psi range before 4000rpm on a 2.5. Crazy stuff. Fwiw the XRE5964S is basically the modern equivalent of their old HTA3582 - would drive nicely enough on an RB25 or 26, but proven capable of a huge amount of power if you want to spicy with rpm tho even at sane boost levels will make stout numbers
