Ebay ones are all I can afford. I have heard some of them last fine if not thrashed, I am not planning on being too harsh on the replacement turbo. Ill be happy if it can handle 10psi.

But since you mention all those upgrades. Yup I realise there are MANY things to upgrade before you upgrade the turbo normally. But since I'm in need of a a new turbo it changed my priority. And isn't worst case scenario if you fit a better turbo without all those upgrades slightly less power down low and more lag?

I'm ok with that in the meantime.

Only Current mods are 2 stage electronic boost controller.

255lph fuel pump

Nismo FUel pressure regulator

Yellow jacket coils with Bcpr6es.

I haven't really experienced knocking or fuel cut. I don't think I am running rich or lean. So if I haven't hit a limit on these I dont see the point of upgrading them for low boost applications especially since I need a new turbo first.

Ill have a look around. I had a look at some high flow prices they seem to be about 1.5k. Wouldn't mind a second hand turbo off somoene who is upgrading but id prefer to hear it running in a car first otherwise what guarantee do you have it wont be blown?

At least with an ebay turbo you have a 1 year warranty, or so it says.

Anyway, I know many sau members hate ebay turbos but humor me and tell me how much modification do you need to fit a non standard turbo such as a kkr480 into a r33 gts

For example this

Bro honestly look on trademe.co.nz see what you can find we are import crazy back in nz and a lot of cheap parts on their. Dont forget bouts asking for shopping cost but everything in there is in nz dollars

Just an update.

I came about 1 second away from ordering the ebay turbo (so i have some money left for a niztune to go along)

After a few weeks of stalling the purchase I noticed the noise gradually decreased. It was almost down to 30% of what it originally reached. Gtscot heard it at this point. We unplugged the speakers with no change etc. I unplugged some more fuses at home with no change.

A few days after that it just died away.

Id be happy to record another video with the noise gone if wanted.

At this point I figure just leave it alone and focus on other things.

It didn't sound like the turbo mate. Definitely sounded more like alternator feedback than anything else.

Did you do anything about your leaking intake gasket?

I just said you heard the noise not thought it was the turbo.

Yea i tightned the manifold bolts. seems ok so far.

Still reluctant to degreaese and wash engine bay though.

Been trying to get a feel for spark plugs on the car. bcpr6es-11 best so far. Platinums are ok and iridiums suck.

    • The incentives are mostly the same, yes. Ethanol is cheap compared to the cost of doing 98-100 RON with crude oil alone. 87 to 93-94 AKI all with E10. In 2020 Canada mandated E10 as a part of their "renewable fuel standard" and is supposedly going to go to E15 in 2030. In California where there are only 8 refineries with two threatening to shut down next year it's been over 20 years now of E10 and 91 AKI maximum because there's just not enough refinery capacity or crude oil supply relative to the demand for premium unleaded fuel. And CARB's low carbon fuel standard means functionally none of the diesel available at the pump is made from crude oil anymore. It's almost all entirely 20% biodiesel blended with 80% renewable diesel (hydrotreated vegetable oil) now. The number of gasoline vehicles that support E15 or higher ethanol concentrations is surprisingly low, I can't imagine it being wise to play tricks like this without flex fuel sensors in most of the fleet.
    • It's almost certainly the same as the one next to it. • South Australia, which is hardly as far behind as the rest pf Oz makes out, and who is also not a paragon of progressiveness (read that as over-legislation) in the area of vehicle standards, has this to say on the subject: Adjustable coil-over suspension Aftermarket adjustable coil-over suspension components are suspension units that incorporate an external thread on the main body and corresponding threaded spring saddle that allows the vehicle's suspension height to be varied. If fitting aftermarket or coil-over suspension components you must submit an Application to modify a light motor vehicle form and a report from a light vehicle engineering signatory (LVES).
    • Hi all, Long time since I've posted here. Looking for some advice on what I can remove to further identify the cause of my issues.  I can move the passenger seat forward and back but the knob used to adjust the seat angle is pretty much free spinning, there's very little resistance.  Removing the side cover I can see that the chain is intact but the shaft for the adjustment spins without the gear attached to it moving.  What's my next step for disassembly here? Is this a common fault? Just being a little cautious as I didn't want to start removing bolts for a spring to fly out or something equally as stupid.  Cheers
    • Those above shitboxes, mediocre and above usually have a turbo strapped to them, hence the slightly higher octane is required.
