A supplier owed money by HRT has accused them of giving "misleading information" and also confirmed that the Spanish team went into liquidation last month.

Formtech Composites, which supplies carbon fibre components to a number of teams on the F1 grid, says it agreed a payment plan with the backmarker outfit without the knowledge that HRT had started to liquidate their assets in November.

Furthermore, Formtech claims it was misled about the ownership of the team after being told that investment group Thesan Capital, which took control of HRT in 2011, was controlled by what it calls a "Luxembourgian Fund".

According to a statement released by the company, HRT entered liquidation on November 12 - the same day Thesan Capital announced the team was up for sale. At the time, the Spanish company said it was "in talks with a number of groups interested in buying" them.

There was no sign of HRT on the FIA's 2013 entry list when it was published last week, though, and news the team's assets are being liquidated offers further confirmation that 11 teams will contest next season's Championship.

Speaking at the United States Grand Prix the week it was announced that HRT was up for sale, Pedro de la Rosa was forced to deny the suggestion that, with the team unable to pay suppliers, worn components on their cars had compromised safety.

HRT suffered a number of mechanical failures late last season, including the hydraulics failure in Abu Dhabi that left Narain Karthikeyan lucky to walk away from a spectacular collision with the Mercedes of Nico Rosberg.

Formtech said HRT agreed the payment plan on November 15 - three days after they entered liquidation - with 25 per cent of the debt paid. Now, however, they are only willing to pay suppliers 30p for every Euro owed.

Expressing their intention to "investigate further into the true shareholder ship of HRT and Thesan Capital SL", Formtech added: "It has come to our knowledge that [hrT] owe a substantial amount of money to other suppliers in the motorsports industry."

When contacted by Sky Sports on Monday, a spokesperson for Thesan Capital could only confirm that the company is currently holding meetings with various suppliers.

Mark Webber believes his refusal to settle for top-six finishes was a key factor in his 2012 Formula 1 championship defeat.

Red Bull's Australian was in the thick of the title fight early on, and emerged as Fernando Alonso's closest championship rival after winning the British Grand Prix.

But Webber's form tailed off thereafter. A run of six races without a podium contributed to him slumping to sixth in the standings, while his team-mate Sebastian Vettel produced a late surge to deny Alonso the crown in a wild Brazilian finale.

"We need to get some of that 2011 and '10 consistency back," Webber admitted. "We lost some of that this year. Some of it was through no fault of my own, some was.

"I tried to force some issues where I was not being prepared to finish fifth or sixth, which you had to grab this year. That's something that is a pain in the arse sometimes but you have to do it."

Webber is confident he had the pace to stay in the title fight and that it was inconsistency that cost him.

"We were very strong at the start of the year but then we had three races on the bounce with diff issues and penalties," he said.

"You can go through a whole list of things here and there but ultimately it wasn't strong enough, it wasn't a consistent enough campaign to get more out of what we had."

He believes his Monte Carlo and Silverstone wins proved he is a championship-calibre driver when he delivers his full potential.

"The British GP was a sensational result. [it was] local for the team, a second home race for me, and getting Fernando Alonso in the way we did..." Webber said.

"And Monaco as well - we were in the shit big time on Thursday, on Saturday morning we were struggling but we managed to get a couple of laps out of the car I was very proud of. Seb was struggling, only eighth on the grid.

"That was probably the biggest highlight of the year for me. To win Monaco was very, very special.

"I need to keep doing that, keep winning, which is something I'm clearly capable of."

    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
