Well had a great day, in the last session of the south circuit on the last lap she sprung a small coolant leak in the bypass cooling hose under manifold.

Great day good instructors best fun ive had with pants on. My first proper race track experience.

if you got your times recorded on the texi would love to see the results.

My quickest was a 32.23sec in the GTSt :) only got 4 runs.

awesome day, motorkhana was alot of fun, my quickest was 32.04, circuit was very good, had bit of brake fade on the hairpin and got in before the rain started

ran the car with stock actuator boost as a pre-caution in case i got carried away 1st time on track

both instructors were very good, heaps of information and pointers

+1

Had a great day - fun/non serious atmosphere, loads of variety of cars. Very nice BB BNR34 GTR in the last session.

Besides the "speed limit" I did manage to get up to a sneaky 140km/h down the back bit. Instructor was great - very informative and calm. Instilled a good level of confidence and level headedness. Motor held up fine - bloody over engineered the cooling system so the thermos didn't even switch on. Brake pads were the first thing to start to go, but only had a long pedal a couple of times over the sessions. Pity the traffic was so heavy. Would have liked to have at least one good timed session, but was stuck behind quite a bit of traffic.

Motorkhana times- I did 4 runs.

RWD: first lap - 33.82 then 31.82

Put the fuse back in so AWD

30.38 and best time of 29.67 before I pulled aside.

Got a bit of a round a of applause from the timing crew, so I don't think many were below 30 secs. Hope they put the times up, but don't think they were officially recorded. Only other sub 30 sec time I heard was an Audi quattro wagon. Wagon FTW!

All in all a great day!

good job, yah on my track runs my instructor said "that Sti infront isnt sticking to 100km/h, just go as fast as you can' so i managed about 135 up that main straight before the esses. was loads of fun, got to pass 3 cars in my 2 sessions.

The best pass was on a vt SS vommadore, all over him through the corners but struggled a little to keep up on staights but was waved through and left him behind on the next few laps. No brake fade the Bendix held up well. Just the slight issue of coolant but got her home no overheating at all. good old Skylines ;)

Yeah it was good fun. Rained during our track session so that made it pretty wild even with 4wd... Civic in front of me had a wild lift off oversteer spin after the sweeper down to the old turn 9; ended up off the track to the inside and not far off the wall.

Only got 4 runs on the motorkhana too and managed a 28.8 (got video of that run so I might post it up later - using the horn is key)

I did a 46 on my second last run !! haha

Was stuck on the spot and couldn't even get past the first cone, I said to the guy next to me this place is suddenly very slippery while I did like 5 donuts, clutched in and motor was still revving :/, throttle linkage must have gotten caught when I clutch kicked.

He said you better stop before we get in trouble, hahah he loved it

I am disappoint!

Blew a cooler hose off on the last session of the motorkhana and didn't realise till i went onto the track for the first session...so had to crawl around and make my way back into the pits to fix it. Coach was great though, (Bob) even helped me fix it. Went out again for the second sesh and lasted almost one lap before it popped again!

Fixed it once more and headed home...have now fixed the problem hose. Guess i should have done some more testing with the new cooler setup before hitting the track.

My quickest khana lap was 31.02. Pretty happy with that.

Gah! Beaten by a R34 GTR! Suppose thats ok ;)

Yeah, we were watching the last track session, and looked very slippery. Michael, I think your car is set up for drift! Had to creep round the turn near the pits to get around it!

edit- I reckon I could do that time if I had a handbrake. Have a stupid footbrake is useless, and I suffered massively for it.

    • Hi GTSBoy, Excuse my ignorance but what does a "Bad" Knee point mean ?
    • HFM BM57 has a "bad" knee point, IIRC. It's not the same thing as the later R chassis MC.
    • The ATTESSA is functionally identical to R34; there were a bunch of JDM models that continued ATTESSA including Fuga/Q70, Skyline/Q50, Cima etc as an option. All with Auto only and I think mostly for snow regions. AFAIK there were no AWD VR30DDTT sold in Australia - it is on my to do list to check regs for racing a LHD car in Targa/ATR/AASA/CAMS events because if I can get the auto to work it would be interesting to run a 4wd car The Ecuteck TCM tuning is the same model as their ECU tuning, they already have it for R35 and Dose's favourite, BMW. You buy "points" to allow your computer to be tuned, buy either a bluetooth (phone app) or bluetooth+USB+Key (phone and PC) dongle, and pay for a tune that will be locked to your tuner ( ). You can also access the tuning software yourself but 1. it is mega expensive and 2. these computers have a billion parameters that intersect, so how could you ever spend enough time on it to get a decent result.
    • Or, is it a case of what it is like owning an R series Skyline? NFI what the previous owner has done or fiddled with... Ha ha ha After reading through this thread, I went on a bit of a research about the Q50/Q60. Now I'm quite intrigued by them! Is the AWD in them more like a WRX where it's always AWD, or is it more like the ATTESSA in the GTRs? By the sound of this TCU tuning, this sounds like a case of someone has made some real software for it, and you just need the right piece of hardware, and then you license that specific vehicle/TCU. Or is this a case of the software will be really expensive so only a few tuners have it, and you still have to pay a license per vehicle?
    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
