Ooooh, I got some of that Nulon Air intake cleaner stuff yesterday. (spray in a vac line with engine running etc...) is this the same?

gonna try it on the SkyWags and if good I'll do the 33 and the Micra too.

I got Threebond upper engine cleaner, apparently its the exact same product as the Subaru one.

You can get it at Repco.

Its nice and smooth when cruising around, i can feel the difference.

I think what you got is basically carbie cleaner. Which is real good for fuel deposits and gunk in the inlet.

I dont know if it cleans inside the combustion chamber as well.

Mechanic in a can is never as good as pulling it apart and cleaning it properly.

But so much easier... its a pity they are only good for maintenance not repair.

Also tried my foaming brush today, too much water, not enough foam.

Maybe i can adjust something and get it working.

And you didn't flag her down to get her phone number......c'mon man thats what young blokes are supposed to do.

to be honest man, I wasn't thinking about that ;) I was more thinking thankgod she stoped, then when I was driving away I noticed how hot she was :( it was abit to late to almost cause a accident to get her number :P but it did cross my mind I will admit that! :)

lol - hehehe

Battery, fuel canister and fire extinguisher in the middle - awesome !

So we have spark and fuel. Oxygen in the vehicle. Lucky you have a fire extinguisher :P

Well after washing the cars 2 days ago then with rain and then dust yesterday  I washed them again  today....

also put new Ultra high performance Century battery in the 32 and new spark plugs :)

a lot easier to do than 33's and 34's but still a pain due to strut brace and valley cover

bought some Stanley tools from Supercheap ($280) and then returned them an hour later. Stanley are Shit  tools now days.

Will go out to that new Total Tool shop in Fyshwick as apparently they have quality tools !!

Oh, those Nulon instructions seem like the best way to clean the pistons.

Mine didnt say to do that. Hmmmm......

Foaming too... not carbie cleaner.

And yeah the Volvo got filthy 10 minutes after i washed it, and the 32 didnt get dried, so it was filthy too from going wet into a dusty shed.

Total tools had a 7/64 or something allen key that is a stupid American weird ass size. Only place i could find one.

They have a VERY large selection of tools. Good brands too.

You will like.

I got sick off shit tools so have slowly been building a nice set. It makes life soo much easier hanging off tools that dont strips heads or blow out ratchet gears.

The subaru upper engine cleaner works BETTER at cleaning an IACV with the engine running, than what is possible when you strip the IACV off and scrub it!

He said your learning to DIY....

Good stuff.

Hacking out some steel with Rob thisarvo, making a strutbrace for the skywagon.

The tricky bit is done, just needs a little trim to fit.

Rob, ever done mig welding? Wanna have a go? You can practice first.

Im not much good at it, but its fun shooting drops of molten metal at 50Hz. :D

Nup, never with a Mig, only did a quick Arc Weld in Metal work in High School. Was fun though. :D

I might have a crack at it!

Put a can of Nulon Foaming Air Intake cleaner through the Wagon today. Was Expecting a cloud of 24yr old crap to come out the Zaust.

I got Nothing. :(

Feels a little snappier in response now though but it must've cleaned something out good. (AAC Valve) In park It now idles a 2000rpm!

Need to adjust it.

and yes, RoseBud is starting to Bloom. New Fuel filter, Oil filter and Fresh Oil all done (Mostly) by Jeremy. :D plus a couple of cable ties here and there.

Anytime Bud.

LOL! Yeah... Theys is me Girls. :D

Cold Start valve cleaned/adjusted.

AAC Valve/idle screw adjusted.

Cruise control cable adjusted. (too much tension/Throttle was slightly open)

Now the Wagon idles at 1000rpm.

I love this game. :D

Who's your favourite ? lol

Well after doing new plugs and battery on Friday the GTR wouldn't start

Got annoyed and let her sit and think about what she'd done wrong to me !!!

Until today.

I decided to take a look and eliminate things it could be.

Started going through things from Fuse to Fuel pump via ignition was the plan.

Checked Fuel pump fuse and all other fuses. Fuel pump was priming ok or at least making the right sounds. No idea if fuel was getting to the injectors yet.

Was starting on removing the valley cover to get to the coils, loom etc and the new plugs and thought I'd just try the ignitor first

Kicked over first try when I put my spare in - always the simplest things hey ...

I was :woot: that I didn't have to keep going

    • What copper washer do you guys use on the bleeder bolts? The existing one I have I had no idea where to find it in a local store, I did buy some online but that are only 1mm thick whereas my old one is 2mm+ thick and when I put the new washer out and squeeze the top radiator hose I can hear a bit of air but not with the old one. Does this matter? The new one doesn't leak, but the inner diameter is a bit loose whereas the old one threads on the bolt.
    • Howdy all, after being out a few weeks ago on a spirited drive in my GTR I have 2 issues that oddly have appeared at the same time. Whilst accelerating quickly through the gears all of a sudden i’ve lost power at the top of third gear (below redline around 6000rpm) for no obvious reason.    From that point onwards the car has been running rich on idle, won’t really rev under load without a ton of black smoke and the odd backfire, and dying as a pull up to a set of lights unless I keep the revs up around 1500rpm. In addition when shutting down the car that same night (I was 10 minutes from home) I noticed one of the turbos was significantly noisy on wind down when shutting off the engine. After letting the car cool down overnight it starts up fine, although once it gets to temp the revs start to creep up and down, the exhaust is darker than it should be and it also sounds like it’s running rich (fat note) I’ve put a new set of plugs in it - no change, the old plugs all seemed OK with two of them being somewhat richer/fueled up than the other 3 with 1 being borderline. I’ve smoked tested the intake system via the front of the Turbos, found a split vacuum hose going to the factory boost gauge sender, which I have since replaced.  Also found another leak on the gasket coming off the rear turbo outlet, have also replaced this. After fixing both of these leaks - still have the running rich issue. I’ve also tried another pair of AFM’s - no change here After pulling off the front turbo intake pipes, there is obvious shaft play in the front turbo, which now hisses loudly on light revvs although I can’t see why this would make the car run funny even under idle. I’m curious to know why it’s running rich before I potentially replace/rebuild turbos. The car is completely stock <50,000kms  other than an exhaust. Oil and coolant are all clear. I haven’t bothered with coil packs as it looks like they won’t be the issue due to condition of the plugs. Any help appreciated as I cry myself to sleep!
    • No probs at all. I used to love trying to dig up obscure info for those in need where possible going back 20+ years on SAU.  I did have another look and couldn't come up with any closer match. I'm leaning towards those skirts in your first pic are custom fitments, cut down/extended or from another car entirely and modded to fit an R34 sedan. I would've thought someone in Japan had them and taken a photo at some stage over the last 2 decades but there's nothing. Someone out there must know surely.
    • Welcome mate. Any pics? Even with a DE I'd be well happy if I had that as a 1st car.
