Hello All,

This event was orginally posted on the Stagea subforum but I thought now that the awesome Nissans are invited I should extend the invite to the rest :yucky:

As the title says date is Monday 25th of February and we are going to have timing on the day as an extra incentive. Winton also accept AASA licenses as well as the normal CAMS ones. This is going to represent a cash saving of about $50 for anyone who doesn't already have a license.

At this stage we're looking for a deposit of $50 to secure your spot.

All entrants/passengers will enter entirely at their own risk, vehicles will be subject to scrutineering prior to being allowed on the track.

All car types welcome provided they are safe. There will be a group for bikes too.

Please follow the link to the MR2 Club website to download the forms. Post up or PM me if you have any queries.

I'm a little confused from the entry.

So it's $50 to secure a spot, seems fine.

But final costing says 140 based on 80 entries. (140 is an excellent price for a times day at winton BTW)

however what happens if there 40 spots does the price jump to 280?

I unfortunately would not be able to attend but looks like a fun day but would mostly likely get more entries if you clarified this?

Hey Emts thanks for raising this. As you say $140 is bargain basement for a track day with so few entrants and we are promoting hard to make sure we get our 80 entrants. However, as we're private organisers doing this not for profit, if there are less entrants then we may need to raise the price to help cover this. It would be a last resort to raise prices and we aren't going to refuse refunds of a deposit if the cost becomes beyond somebody's budget.

Hope this all makes sense, as I said we're here to organise a day of fun not make money. Any more questions people may have don't hesitate to ask!

What do I need to attend this track day beyond car and driver?

Helmet?

Mounted Fire extinguisher?

SAUVIC Membership?

Cams licence?

Helmet yes

Fire extinguisher is NOT required - it is however, highly recommended

Club Membership not required

Licence can be bought on the day and is HALF THE COST of a cams licence

As you can see this is a fantastic chance particularly for first timers to have a go at a track as the costs are so low.

robs33 plenty of spots left, look forward to hearing from you.

^ Yes AASA might be half the price, but if someone intends to go to Sandown, Phillip Island and similar then CAMS is the only way to go there and offers better value than AASA.

So just need to know what you want. AASA works fine if you only intend on Winton / Haunted Hills / DECA and other events under the AASA banner.

 $140 for Winton midweek /w 80 cars is expensive! You walk away with almost $4,000 in your back pocket.

They could afford to have 55 cars rock up and not lose money given Winton only costs $7500 to hire on a weekday ($6,000 for the track, $1500 for timing/recovery).

Nismoid, mind if I ask when you last booked Winton? Track is costing us $10k, let me reiterate we are not doing this for profit we're just a couple of enthusiasts wanting to get people together.

Hopefully if this day goes well the next day we do will be PI and IF there is extra cash we will put it towards subsidising that.

Did you price in bikes (and the air curtain) and all the insurance bits? The track has been booked by my friend so I can't comment directly Nismoid as I don't know the exact figures but overwhelming feedback on this and other forums is that the price is very good.

There are other costs than the track too such as getting two fourbies with car trailers up there to try and prevent people getting stranded  and as stated any money left over will be put towards the next day.

GTTR34, this is the minimum requirement of Winton and AASA. When it comes to safety on the track I am happy to defer to their experience of their own track in setting out the minimum guidelines. It is mentioned in several places that an extinguisher is HIGHLY recommended as it literally is you or your car that is going to burn.

Hey Evan, terrific to hear look forward to receiving your application.

Good question to ask, interest is high, verbal confirmations are high, entry forms received is LOW. If you are coming please get those forms in to ensure the day does go ahead.

We have tweaked the event:

-Cars only, capped at 70 entries

-Cost locked at $140

    • Harness is for a s1 Rb25det, and it is engine and lower harness.  the old harness had broken off plugs and was in very rough condition/exposed wires and splices etc. it is not able to be put back on the car, I could visually inspect to see if they had rewired any pins on the ecu plug. The fuel pump definitly isn’t turning off it’s an external pump and very loud you can hear it. Will look at the other harness tonight, am also going to pull the fuel rail and watch the injectors spray, will update here with what I find. Pretty sure at this point it has to be something to do with injectors because car will fire up on starting fluid and cas is clicking the Injectors. Fuel pressure is steady 43psi
    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
    • I checked spark on all cylinders and they all visually have spark with the plug pulled and grounded, but plug 1 is the only one that fouled. This was a running swap that blew up and was rebuilt by a machine shop, put a new wiring specialties harness and did all gaskets, studs, and bolts while it was out.  compression is 135-150 across all cylinders. Aside from that from my understanding with the z32 ecu and maf the car should start regardless. The wiring for TPS and the dual 02 sensor/ dual knock sensor stuff shouldn’t actually stop the car from starting or even running well, (just slightly rich)  they just give fault codes. Car supposedly is supposed to start as long as you have z32 afm and ecu with the nistune base map and that’s info coming from a well known and trusted tuner who does a lot with SR/RB (Rsenthalpy). After more trouble shooting today where I’m at right now is that the cas is sending signal to the injectors they click while spinning the rotor, Fuel pressure is now set at 43psi, all cylinders have good compression and all of the plugs looked great (just wet with fuel) except for cylinder 1 which was very black (cylinder 1 has 150psi compression). all of the coils generate spark if pulled out and grounded out on the head. On the fuel pump car just pops into the exhaust. On starting fluid car will fire off. Hard to tell if all cylinders are firing off but definitley a couple. sounds like all of them but it’s only for 3-5 seconds hard to tell.
