This has come up before, though not really a big discussion. Personally, it depends how bad the cold is. I don't really get nasty symptoms, just drowsiness and a stuffed nose. If this is the case, I'll still go but will FAR from push normal weight/reps. Just take it easy, since ultimately you want to get well ASAP and a combination of strenuous exercise and being in an unhygienic environment like a gym is no way to go about it.

If I feel like a bag of shit, I won't go. I don't like not going, but hey it's necessary.

Most of the time you won't be able to maintain your usual intensity when you're sick. My rule of thumb is if my symptoms are above the neck then I'll probably still do some stuff. Once I start I re evaluate that depending on how I feel midway through.

Depends if it affects recovery time or not.

Some people recover from most common colds in 2 days or so and can still train. Where others might train and then the cold will linger for 4 days or even get worse.

Comes down to the situation I guess?

IMO the harder part would be the eating, I know if I get ill then my appetite totally disappears.

Actually, squats while you have a cold f**ks you up completely..

lol

I won't train if I have a cold.

If it's just a little sniffle where you have a slight sore throat and runny/blocked nose, then yes.. Squats cures this.

but if you have a proper cold/flu where you have aches all over, then training just extends the time that you feel that way.

Unless I'm nauseous/dizzy/bedridden, I do the "first exercise, first set" test. If I get through the first exercise alright, I do the rest of the workout. If I bomb, I head home.

Most of the time I get through it alright though, and have even set personal bests while sick. The consequences of pushing the body when it's down have often been less for me than skipping a workout and having to struggle hard next time. The bad symptoms of basic colds never last me more than 48 hours anyway.

Yeah, I had multiple times over the first month of gym where I was almost having a cold and constantly woke up with swollen glands that carried on for half the day. Just pressed through it and it eventually went away, was considering taking a break. If I can get to the gym I'll go, then monitor from the exercise how I feel.

When I played Pennants Squash and sensed a cold coming on, I could run it off.

If the cold had set in, I'd feel worse if I exerted myself.

I haven't had a flu since '82, so I assume I'd only spread it around if I tried to push it > feel like sh!t. Even pro footballers put their feet up if afflicted by flu.

If you have a cold stay out of whatever fckn gym I'm at... last thing everyone needs is you putting your germy hands all over the equipment

That's probably where we got it in the first place. Chances are everyone in the gym has been exposed.

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
