Hey mate just read the article on you/your car in the latest performance mag, car looks awesomene mate and the vids are unreal and with the centre fold poster !bonus! Im getting that thing laminated. Just curious where ya from I noticed all the shops you use are local to me too. Might have to get some work done to my gtr :)

Can't get these wheels in a +22 offset or else I would order them.

What tyres are you going to run at WTAC? If you want to go 295 you'll be struggling with +22 offset. +15 is more common and more likely to fit unless you have different uprights? Or spacers?

Thanks dude, I didn't know the issue was out yet, curious to read what was written. Workshop is in lilydale Melbourne. Need anything pm and ill point you onto who ever you need.

Currently running 18x10.5 +22 offset te37's which are needed for the way it's set up. Been using 305/18 slicks with no issue. Running spaces in the front. Will be running 295's for time attack for sure. Looks like a second hand pair of te37 but probably won't find it in +22 offset, best bet is work wheels but weigh 11.1kg, te37 weigh 8.8. Not a huge difference.

10kg rotating mass is HUGE!

Yen is good.. new set of rays about $2800

Blew the budget ages ago steve, I wish I could get another set of te37's, I'm starting to think I should have bought a Porsche gt3 cup car instead as I'd have heaps of spare change.

Yeah I look at what I'm doing to the R35 just so I can race against Cup Cars and often wonder why I didn't just buy a Cup Car in the first place! LOL

Yeah but then you'd just be another Porsche driver...

So here are some pics of the old car prior to Bc automotive livery and last track day, photos courtesy of hp imports. It's a trip seeing your car like this then in 100 pieces again.

Awesome cover shot mate. Our orange drift car is in the top left of the cover as well :)

Lol so true. Not sure about you but I've become emotionally involved with the it. I can't part with it even though financially it's the smart choice. If only I can turn back time, if I could find a way...blah blah blah.

Thanks dude, looking forward to reading up on your beast, soon as I get a copy. Had brad snap and send some shots of the story till its out.

+1

Servicing and parts would be out the ass too. The R35 might be comparable, but parts and availability for R32 would be less of a headache

The project seems to be a little off schedule but its starting to pick up again. Went past today to see the progress and help out we're I could. Engine will be completed by this weekend, just needs to be put together.. Some snap shots of the block 2stage bored to 1mm oversized, diamond plateau honed bores.

The whole engine except for the hypertune plenum was cryogenically frozen, from the block to the clutch and flywheel, head, nuts and bolts, the lot. I have no idea if this actually prolongs the life of the parts, but went for it on the engine builders recommendations.

    • This looks great! Awesome to have the 5 speed with an LSD in this. The Recaro's look like SR2's or SR3's. It's a shame they've been retrimmed as they would have looked sweet in their original colours. I think I'd want my agent to be a little more up front and informative too. I've never imported but I reckon it would make me a little nervous, so the more info the better.
    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
