Collect the set! E30 BMW M3 - most competitive v R32 GTR Aus Grp A

Recommended Posts

I used to have a E30 BMW, and sold it to buy a R33 GTSt.

I changed to an R32 GTR, but at some point want to also get an E30 M3...

Much like a GTR, this car had fat guards, different race-bred engine, and was a weapon in race tune, racing against R32 GTRs in Bathurst and Group A in Australia in the early 90s.

Does anyone know what the deal is with bringing in a car from the UK, in terms of compliance etc (if required)? I know that they can be brought here, as I've seen one on the roads before.

Thanks

I think the GRP A M3 that was raced here was a 3 series fitted with the M3 motor cause back then BMW never sold the M3 version. Maybe the reason for not selling the M3 here is cause they were all LHD and the M3 raced here was a standard 3 series chassis with the M3 engine.

being a 1988 model you could bring it into the country will all mods and have very little hassles compliancing. However if its LHD and less than 30 years old it has to be converted to RHD. Shouldn't be that expensive given the amount of beemer engineering companies around. A mob that I know of in melb buy a lot of beemers from japan thru j-spec and they do their own conversions and sell the cars. I can try to get you some contact details if you want.

Also try:

They are hard to find and it cost shitloads...and I already have my personal import.

C36 are also very rare, RHD are even more rare...only ever seen 2 and cost? Don't ask...immaculate with only 10,000km on the clock. Also seen a couple of 190E Evo II popped up and they are worth a look going for reasonable prices.

As you can see I only like rare and limited production cars :D

    • As the Bogan Cruise Ship has nothing wrong with it, and is perfect the way it is, I have decided to fix that issue, nothing major, just a little tidy up and upgrade some parts that don't really need to be upgraded  1. Upgrade the interchiller, basically another fancy pants modern and efficient condenser, a larger reservoir (current one only holds about 500ml) and a better pump (the current pump has a little rattle, so......while I'm in there.....) 2. Move the battery to the boot so I can use that real-estate to fit in a nice big reservoir where the battery currently is As for a new car, I'm holding off buying one for a few reasons: 1. Not enough garage space for another nice car, yes....I consider the Bogan Cruise Ship a nice car that needs a roof over its head, which leads to point 2 2. I'm buying a joint down the south coast next year, hopefully I can find a joint with a nice big double garage that I can get a car lift in, or, it has a massive shed for lots of cars, and a lift (I really really want a car lift) 3. I cannot decide what I want, a new freshness with all the mod cons, or a fairly old thing that I can play with when I'm bored (old as in steel bumper) In other news, there's a light at the end of the tunnel, and it isn't a train coming to run me over  Not that I'm counting
