Hey all,

Just want to know if anyone has a venom cat installed on their GTT, GTS-T, or GTR?

Looking for a good high-flow metal cat. Made the mistake of getting a ceramic one, but luckily can return it. Venom cat has been recommended to me, and I just want to know any more details about it, if it's a good cat?

Website says the 5" body one is $230, but on ebay the 4"body is $250. Sooooo i don't really know what the go with the price is. I've emailed Venom though, so awaiting a reply.

Any info would be awesome thanks :D

Awesome, cheers guys.

Martin, I see you have a GTT. How much did the 5" 100 cell cost you? And I also see you've got it bolted up to a JJR dump pipe. I'm also using that dump pipe, just wondering if it's a direct bolt on to the cat, or if the flanges need to be modified to line up?

Thanks! :D

From memory I paid $160... But I got mine without flanges, they weren't offering the bolt-on version when I got mine. So I guess that answers your second question as well haha. It only cost me $40 to have two flanges welded on, and that guaranteed perfect fitment.

i got a 100cell 5" body cat, with 3" inlet and outlet, was told it was a direct bolt on, for r33 and 180 apparently take the same cat...

i connected mine up with a jjr tront/dump but didnt fit, the dump pipe needed to be heated and twisted, and flanges aligned to fit,

thought it was just my car as the exhaust shop said it was the front dump rather than cat,

but my bro with his 180 had the same prob, so i think they had an issue with their cats, i did contact george about it and he was really good,, he said he'd look into their design,

even though it wasnt a direct bolt on im still really happy with it.

Oh ok, i just had another look and the one on ebay has the flanges on them already, whereas the ones shown on the venom website don't look like they come with the flanges.

How long ago did you have it installed mat? Hopefully he's fixed the design. Otherwise, I could just opt for the flange-less one and get the exhaust guys to weld on some flanges like Martin did.

ummm i think late last year somewhere around sept oct.

I've got one too, the metal core is welded to the body so it won't dislodge itself.

I'm running the 5" body 100 cell cat, George even welded me a bung pre cat for my wide band for free.

Great quality product, tidy welds and good Service.

I also run a 5" one with 3" flanges. For the sake of an extra couple of dollars go with the 5", you want the least amount of restriction possible.

The only problem I had with my Venom Cat is I had ordered it as direct bolt on with a bung to fit the standard temp probe. George said the standard fitting they use is a larger diameter than the Nissan fitting, so I paid extra (through George) for an adapter to space it down to the correct diameter. But as it turns out that didn't work as there was no internal base to seat the probe. So in the end I haven't been able to fit the probe and wasted money in the process.

I noticed this as well with the previous generation of his Cats, however he supplied a step down convertor for free and it fit well when we fitted it to Ph@t-G's car.

The cat I ordered for myself now has the correct sized fitting and the OEM temp probe fits perfectly, in saying that those probes are useless :D

Thread resurrect. How do you guys go with ground clearance using the 5" Venom cat? I'm tempted to get one for my R34 GTT but I'm already scraping the smaller X-Force high flow (ceramic) I've got in there...

havent looked under my car for a while but its pretty much the lowest part i think, but i dont scrap it anywhere except one multistory, but im not sure if its the frontdump or the cat scaping and then its only a touch....
i guess if you know the height of your cat, you can work out how much lower its going to sit

The cat in mine sits higher then the centre muffler, its not as big as it sounds! Mine was just the cat and flanges and we welded it into place so it may vary slightly to the off the shelf ones that are made to bolt up?

more of an update.. my venom cat is still in one piece!

that's with me cracking the anti-lag and hitting the rev limiter often too (I use ignition cut).. loads of bangs, still loads of cat :)

    • Initially I thought having a pair of Recaro seats would be a big bonus, it turns out these do get a little uncomfortable on long journeys (my fault, not the seat). I had a look through the GSM Performance website at reclining seats and booked an appointment to visit their show room. I got the Recaro Sportster CS for the R34 from here, was very happy with the service received so of course a re-visit was in order. Unfortunately the two Corbeau seats I had chosen aren't on display but they had 4 other options available. Two seats dug into my back, one dug into my legs and the other was perfect. I also found out that Recaro seats use a larger bolt pattern so some adaption was required. Luckily GSM offer some universal adaptors that should solve this problem. I searched the interwebs for price comparisons and Corbeau themselves were the cheapest at £300 cheaper (for the pair). I asked GSM if they could price match, unfortunately they couldn't. I later received an email saying Corbeau would honour them the same discount, but the purchase was already made. I did however order the brackets from GSM, both arrived on the same day. I started with the passenger side seat, knowing this was going to be a little trial and error. There are 3 mounting holes at the front and 2 at the rear on these JURAN Racing seat rails.  With the adaptor brackets mounted, the allen cap bolts started to push into the seat, NOT GOOD!  The rear mounting holes lined up but there were issues at the front. The holes were 1/2 hole out, so the brackets got a tickle with the drill to modify the holes. The supplied bolts weren't going to be long enough and a spacer was needed to stop the adaptor bars from bending. A local fasteners company supplied be with some nylon spacers and longer bolts (M8x30, although these will be replaced with 35mm long shortly) A before and after I pre-drilled the front bracket before making a start on the driver's seat to save some time. And in no time at all that was in the car too. The all black seats have transformed the interior and these are MUCH more comfortable. The only downside with the new Corbeau seats is I sit a little higher, but I'll happily accept that over discomfort. The Youtube video can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPyttKPktXA
    • All 3 I guess. The car came with the JASI Aero 4 door Type R Full Kit unpainted so this was one thing at the top of my list to complete then I noticed there were body panels parts for this kit so i picked them up along with some black mesh to fill in the front bumper and front side air vents. car is at a paint and body shop atm completing this work. Next I will be addressing the internal bells and whistles, great summer project I can do with the kids.  full interior removal - ,boys car sound deadening - pads and spray ,boys stereo, sound, lighting - Big 3, GTT or bigger alternator ,kids head lining - dye black add star lighting mod ,daughter. That's it for the next 5-6 months. I have some motor maintenance  work i have to plan out. oil filter relocation, gaskets, mounts. beyond that, mind is starting to turn over if i can use a DET intake plenum, block off turbo ports & pipe in a air intake.
    • roller coaster of a ride. Alarm system was removed & main harness was repaired where possible. still no fix just random successful starts. moved on to the replacing the ignition switch and relay. well all this troubleshooting & repair has been going on, the car is at a paint and body shop being pushed around. Ive been going down there on odd days after work to get it sorted.
