My mechanic and i have spoke about turbo choice, we are going ahead with the garret gtx3076r.

Thanks for your help hypergear and thanks to any one from the skyline australia forum for helping out also.

Hmmmm just don't know ! Nothing wrong with that choice, i run it! but a hyper gear would be awsome combo on your car, what rear housing you going to run? you going internal or external gate?

Well I believe there is a strong Bias on his engine builder as many older timers did grew up with the company, even thou I do not agree that it is a better choice for factory manifold and internal gate, but I respect their decisions.

As developments continues, I will make sure the SS internally gated series are always a better bolton option for the Nissan Rb25det engines.

I run the same turbo, the GTX is only a good choice for someone planning on running 25+ psi, otherwise the GT or a Hypergear is a better option imo.

It is a fairly laggy 400kw on e85 turbo choice. What do you want out of your setup?

Just saw he wants to run x frame mine is gt 3076r not to laggy at all with a .63 external and manual lol makes good power, but will expect it to nose over soon on the next time hopefully get 350+ out of it b4 it does , but there are much better choices out there now, more response, better flow, I know I will be changing to some thing else one day soon, but just like to see where I can push this combo too first .

2000 rs you have spent massive $$$ on that stag now and deserve to make good power so be very very careful on turbo choice and who you take advice from . There are ppl on here who are specifically in tune with stagea's and rb engines and turbo choice too suit . You've also got too look at what power delivery you want , do you want a dyno queen lag monster or something that will actually get the stag up and moving street style, do you want a linier v8 style power delivery or do you want a head snap . Be careful on what path you choose

And mechanic so strongly in favour of one turbo over another (when the one he's against is arguably the best choice) isn't a mechanic worth taking your car to.

Seriously, for what you want I doubt you'll find a better turbo than a HG. There are lots of results out there which demonstrate how perfect HGs are for RBs. If your mechanic isn't confident using one, then he has a problem, not the turbo.

I vote find a new mechanic

4bidn1 has a a 3076 56t ,63 same setup/gate on stockyband he had auto aswell

i have hypergear g3with old bigger 58t comp wheel/bigger turbine/bigger .82 exhaust housing

now lets guess which one has way more power under 3800rpm

the 3076 woudnt even make 1psi on a stock converter..

of course you workshop woudnt know this...

remember you have to move a big heavy car. Good ole adelaide

workshops..lol

I am running forged pistons, plan on getting mv auto to strengthen my trans and put a stall converter in..........

The workshop im sending my car too works mostly with rb engines, they have drift cars also.

They have worked with alot of HG turbos, they say they cant get no where near the figures HG have posted on the net Plus the front housing on HG turbos are to big for my application as i am not running a top mounted turbo.

What figures do they get on their Garrett range?

Just on that, are you buying the turbo from them?

With the gt3076 they make around 330rwk on a manual.

And yes they are getting the turbo in for me, i payed a deposit today. the gtx3076r is $2450

The gt3076 is $2050

You pay for what you get these days i guess.

well not really..you got assf**ked by bill with your first turbo, assf**ked by your engine builder

theres plenty of info here to tell you why the gtx3076 woudn't be a good thing for what you want

but you seem to like to get spoon fed, your the type of customer workshops dream about..lol

money doesn't buy brains sadly

    • Lets say I wanted to buy this, specifically for this purpose. How do I actually perform the function. Can I still buy a Consult-1? Am I about to be burned by the fact my car is a 2000 model Series 2 R34 and thus will be some stupid other system? Do I just need this -> https://obd2australia.com.au/product/nissan-consult-14-pin-to-usb-ddl-diagnostic-interface-with-ftdi-ft232r-chip/ And with what software?
    • That's probably OK. That's a face to face compression joint between two surfaces with the clamping load provided by those bolts. So.... it's unlikely that the bolts will end up feeling that load in shear, unless the clamping surfaces are not large enough, bolts not got enough tension on them, etc etc to prevent the two faces from moving wrt each other. Which... I would hope the designers have considered, seeing as it's probably one of the most important things the upright has to do apart from resist collapsing in its own right. But yes, it would definitely be worth asking them what their safety factor on that part of the design was. I tend to think that the casting, being a casting, is not necessarily the strongest bit of material in the world. It's about an inch square, and when you think about the loads that are being put into it, you have to wonder what safety factor the Nissan boys (and every other OEM engineer who has designed all the millions of other uprights that look essentially the same) used to account for defective casting, aging, severe impacts on the wheel, etc etc.
    • Those bolts would be orders of magnitude stronger that cast aluminium though.  And its mainly clamping force, not shear they are dealing with?
    • Except all that twisting force that is breaking a cast piece, appears to be going through 4 bolts in the picture Johnny posted of the BryPar one...
    • The smart approach is to use the gearbox loom from the manual car. Makes it a lot easier - just plugs into the switches on the box and plugs into the main loom up near the fusebox. Then you only need to deal with bypassing the inhibit switch. The other approach requires you to use the wiring diagram to identify those wires by colour and location, perhaps even indulging in a little multimeter action to trace them end to end to make sure, and then.... you will have the answers you need. The R34 wiring diagram is available on-line (no, I do not have a link to it myself - I would have to do a search if I wasn't able to go to the copy I have at home).
