Well the NGK connector is light Grey and more solid looking with all the spade pins Vertical and positioned in the center of the connector. The R34 or BOSCH connector is black, maybe a fraction smaller and all the spade pins are Horizontal and thinner and positioned in the top area of the connector.

Might take some shots if I get around to it...

I haven't read ALL the posts in this thread so don't know just how expensive the Bosch sensors are but I just wanted to get mine done so got a genuine one through Nissan, took a week and $180 bucks.

probably not the cheapest way to go but took about 10 Mins to change over. Borrowed a mechanic buddy's O2 tool and the sensor came with correct plug and even the wire clip down thingy.

did mine on the weekend.

plugged the laptop into the car and found one o2 sensor stuffed. rang nissan up and wanted $225 each per sensor, and 2 week wait from japan.

or $98 each from auto1 but with rewiring and $60 for o2 sensor socket ( makes life a lot easier).

plugged laptop back in and reset ecu, and sensors are working. now just need to see how much better fuel economy is is like.

Mr Moo - you could have bought that NGK one for 80 odd and changing the plug over requires only 2 basic tools - something to cut with - and a pair of pliars to crimp the old and new wires together using about $1 worth of crimps - they ripped you off charging $60 to cut and join 3 wires!!

Bloody hell I install an entire xbox mod chip for that price!

In fact you only need one tool as pliers can cut as well!

R33 GTR sensor (front at least) is a Bosch A24-621 115 68290

Global Auto Spares Part Number 351-0187

Same sensor for the rear, only lead length and plug differs.

Needs a 22mm spanner

I just rang GLobal Auto Spares and spoke to Chris. He said that Bosch no longer sell the sensor with Global Auto Spares numbers 351-0187. Apparently the alternative is 351-0040. He said he just sold them to someone else. I told him it was a R33 GTR (or 260RS) and that it has a larger thread that the R32 and he said "yes, that's correct. We have the right one for you". Seemed like a nice guy and seemed like he knew what he was on about. I have ordered 2 of them. They only cost $77 each. I'll let you all know how I go. James you may need to update your website.

They arrived yesterday, but wife didn't pick them up from the Post Office. So hopefully I'll have them tonight and can let you know part numbers and if they worked. I'll use the email link in the future. Didn't notice it. Sorry

Well I just opened up the O2 sensors. The brand on the pack says "Global EFI" with part number 351-0040. The plug looks a lot like the front R33 GTR one. The part number on the sensor is OZA395-E2 KBA16693 and it says that it's a NTK sensor. I'll let you know how it goes when I install it.

Hmmm I need to look into this further. A quick flick through this topic shows that people have listed this sensor as an RB25 one. It looks like it's Zirconia and from what I've read the R33 RB26 one is Titania. I'll see what I can work out from the stock one.

Well I just went out and had a look at the car (Stagea 260RS - R33 RB26DETT)

-The O2 sensors have a much wider body than the new ones

-The plug on the new one matches the front sensor perfectly

-I couldn't really make out the numbering on the stock sensors, but it looked like a standard Nissan part number.

-I am definately gonna need one of those tube sockets :P

From what I've read in this thread, the R32 GTR sensor is definately Titania. A few people have mentioned that the R33 GTR sensor is also Titania. Can anyone confirm this for sure? I did a search for Bosch a24-621 which apparently was the previous replacement that Global Auto Spares used to sell. I couldn't figure out if this sensor is Titania or Zirconia.

I think I might give Global Auto Spares a ring tomorrow and ask him about it.

The latest on this hunt for R33 GTR sensors.... I just rang Global EFI and Chris has been looking for a Titania sensor with the large thread size that the R33 uses. He says he hasn't been able to find any. He has contacted Bosch who had nothing and he is still waiting on a reply from NGK, but is not hopeful. He said he is able to get R32 GTR sensors no problem, but they are a small thread size. Does anyone know if there is some sort of adapter to mount the small sensor in the larger hole? I'm gonna do a google search.

BoostedBarge, I am not at all sure about the titania vs zircon sensors, but I am 100% sure that the 32 and 33 gtr looms and ECU are interchangeable - which means that the signal they output must be similar enough to work from either type of sensor if they are different between 33 and 32. Keep in mind narrow band o2 sensor is a very simple beast.

THanks mate, the problem is finding that sensor for the 33. Global EFI rang Bosch and NGK and didn't seem to have any luck. I'm thinking of using the R32 sensors with an adapter to make them fit. I'm pretty sure that my old GTI-R had an adapter from the factory, because it used a small size O2 sensor. Maybe I could get one from Nissan or a wreckers.

If your running a PFC you can flick between the zirconia and Titania calibration.

I can confirm the calibration is completely off/different between the two so there's no way you can get one working with the other calibration.

Only issue is the plug. :laugh:

I just had another look at the O2 sensors... I don't have the socket to remove them yet, but using a mirror and my digital camera I was able to work out it is a Bosch sensor and has the number "A14-A21 141 ....." on it. I did a Google search and found this

I found on another forum that someone said that the R32 is Titania, but the R33/34 uses Zirconia. If he's right, then I might be in luck. I'll give Global EFI a ring tomorrow and see if he can find out if that part number is for a Zirconia or Titania sensor.

Oh yeah, if anyone has a spare sensor lying around, I'd really appreciate if you could confirm the part number for me.

My R34 had:

LIC. BOSCH A24-A71 047 87280 but it is a RB25DET if you have the RB26DETT then you will have to use the Titania ones. the single turbo ones are all Zirconia...

NGK / NTK OZA395-E2 $85.80 was my replacement part which should work for both R33 and R34 (with the plug swapped on the R34)

Tool used was a standard 20mm spanner. The thread was 18mm from memory. Use the spanner on an angle as there is not enough room between the firewall and the exhaust pipe, and the engine and some other box thing... - so no special tool required

I rang Global EFI and they said that since the sensor has 2 white wires and 1 black, it is most likely a Zirconia sensor. He reckons he just sold a couple to a guy who owned a R33 GTR, so I'm just gonna go ahead and see how it goes.

The part number didn't help at all, because he thinks it is a Nissan number.

Also, I just purchased an O2 sensor socket for $22.50 from these people. I confirmed it was 22mm.

How do you do this? Is it only in datalogit or can you access this from the hand crontroller.

For those with large dia bosses for small dia sensors, I picked up a pair of adapters from the local exhaust mob for about $35, screwed straight in. Pity that one of my original sensors looks like it didn't like being removed and replaced, or was dead previously without me knowing.

    • Well, after the full circus this week (new gearbag, 14 psi actuator on, injectors and AFM upgraded, and.....turbo repair) the diagnosis on the wastegate is in. It was broken. It was broken in a really strange way. The weld that holds the lever arm onto the wastegate flapper shaft broke. Broke completely, but broke in such a way that it could go back together in the "correct" position, or it could rearrange itself somewhere else along the fracture plane and sit with the flapper not parallel to the lever. So, who knows how and when exactly what happened? No-one will ever know. Was it broken like this the first time it spat the circlip and wedged itself deep into the dump? Or was it only broken when I tried to pry it back into place? (I didn't try that hard, but who knows?). Or did it break first? Or did it break between the first and second event of wierdness? Meh. It doesn't matter now. It is welded back together. And it is now held closed by a 14 psi actuator, so...the car has been tuned with the supporting mods (and the order of operations there is that the supporting mods and dyno needed to be able to be done first before adding boost, because it was pinging on <<14 psi with the new turbo with only a 6 psi actuator). And then tuned up a bit, and with the boost controller turned off throughout that process. So it was only running WG pressure and so only hit about 15-16 psi. The turbo is still ever so slightly lazier than might be preferred - like it is still a bit on the big side for the engine. I haven't tested it on the road properly in any way - just driven it around in traffic for a half hour or so. But it is like chalk and cheese compared to what it was. Between dyno numbers and driving feedback: It makes 100 kW at 3k rpm, which is OK, could be better. That's stock 2JZ territory, or RB20 with G series 550. It actually starts building boost from 2k, which is certainly better than it did recently (with all the WG flapper bullshit). Although it's hard to remember what it was like prior to all that - it certainly seems much, much better. And that makes sense, given the WG was probably starting to blow open at anything above about 3 psi anyway (with the 6 psi actuator). It doesn't really get to "full boost" (say 16 psi) until >>4k rpm. I am hopeful that this is a feature of the lack of boost controller keeping boost pressure off the actuator, because it was turned off for the dyno and off for the drives afterward. There's more to be found here, I'm sure. It made 230 rwkW at not a lot more than 6k and held it to over 7k, so there seems to be plenty of potential to get it up to 250-260rwkW with 18 psi or so, which would be a decent effort, considering the stock sized turbo inlet pipework and AFM, and the return flow cooler. According to Tao, those things should definitely put a bit of a limit on it by that sort of number. I must stress that I have not opened the throttle 100% on the road yet - well, at least not 100% and allowed it to wind all the way up. It'll have to wait until some reasonable opportunity. I'm quite looking forward to that - it feels massively better than it has in a loooong time. It's back to its old self, plus about 20% extra powers over the best it ever did before. I'm going to get the boost controller set up to maximise spool and settle at no more than ~17 psi (for now) and then go back on the dyno to see what we can squeeze out of it. There is other interesting news too. I put together a replacement tube to fit the R35 AFM in the stock location. This is the first time the tuner has worked with one, because anyone else he has tuned for has gone from Z32 territory to aftermarket ECU. No-one has ever wanted to stay Nistuned and do what I've done. Anyway, his feedback is that the R35 AFM is super super super responsive. Tiny little changes in throttle position or load turn up immediately as a cell change on the maps. Way, way more responsive than any of the old skool AFMs. Makes it quite diffifult to tune as you have to stay right on top of that so you don't wander off the cell you wanted to tune. But it certainly seems to help with real world throttle response. That's hard to separate from all the other things that changed, but the "pedal feel" is certainly crisp.
    • I'm a bit confused by this post, so I'll address the bit I understand lol.  Use an air compressor and blow away the guide coat sanding residue. All the better if you have a moisture trap for your compressor. You'd want to do this a few times as you sand the area, you wouldn't for example sand the entire area till you think its perfect and then 'confirm' that is it by blowing away the guide coat residue.  Sand the area, blow away the guide coat residue, inspect the panel, back to sanding... rinse and repeat. 
    • The detail level is about right for the money they charge for the full kit... AU$21.00 each issue, 110 issues for a total of $2,300 (I mentioned $2.2K in the first post when the exchange rate was better). $20/week is doable... 馃槓
