Hi all,

recently brought my RC car out of its coffin, am starting to do upgrade it from stock as i finally have funds for it. Looking for some people to race with (for fun!) in Sydney, preferably up north, like ryde, hornsby, chatswood etc. Does anyone know of any on-road tracks?

Do you actually want to race or just run for fun?

I used to be into racing years ago. My equipment is REALLY old by current standards. Castle Hill is probably still running as it was one of the larger clubs. Races Friday nights from memory, but can't remember the schedule. I was a regular at Brush Farm but I don't think they run anymore.

If you want to race, have a look at this site.

Oh, and there's a bunch of netball courts behind my house here in South Tuzza. But shame I don't have too much time to run.

Was thinking it would be fun if a bunch of people bought something like this and agreed to keep them bone stock. Now days with brushless and LiPo batteries would be loads of fun.

Thanks for all the replies so far. I'm purely looking for a track to drive my car on, not competitive racing.

I'm aware of the tracks in Tempe + Castle hill, i think castle hill is the 'closest' for me, and i might give it a go, just emailing them to find out whether they open on weekends for practice drives. I've been in contact with the Castle hill club, and they did in fact inform me that there are no tracks up north/Hornsby.

Eric, Terry, NRV155 - perhaps we could all race together some time? Mine is a TB-02, got it way back in early 2000s...it is relatively stock! And by relatively i mean it has an upgraded (apparently - but only slightly) motor, and some soon-to-arrive suspension upgrades.

Oh and Terry - I have an R34GTR Z tune shell on the way, i will finally achieve my dream of owning a 10-second (1/10 ratio ahhahaha) GTR.

Hmmm you might not like me then. I've got a stock class X-ray 2003 that in its day way one of the top chassis to get.

Still maybe organise a play day in Nov. although Terry thinks I live too close to Hornsby to make the trek ;)

Game on terry, i have a porche GT3 2 speed 4wd 1:10scale nitro. Ill give you a run ha ha. The track at windsor is now closed. Used to take my electric drift car there, my nirto is collecting dust. The track at mount druit is good, and there is a hobby farm off the M5 somewhere to.

The mount druit track is in waylan reserve (dont ask if spelling correct) which is an old tennis court fully reserfaced with a permanent track. Has a really great long straight and a few config options :) if anyone wants to have fun racing let me know can meet you there one afternoon or weekend.

If your comming to texi Terry ill bring the Nitro ;)

This could be start of something guys! A meet/race once in a while could be real fun.

To be honest I'm not too fussed about being outsped etc, just looking for a track to race on + some friends to race with. Which brings me to my next point, whilst i cannot an ECU + engine + turbo overhaul for the R34, I can indeed afford an ECU + motor upgrade for the RC...I have plans already to stick in a brushless <10T motor!

Nice Luke! put in a slow engine so i can keep up :whistling:

ive had the chassis for about 7 years.

i keep meaning to buy running gear, but always have other stuff id rather spend the money on.

will start collecting bits soon.

    • Hi GTSBoy, Excuse my ignorance but what does a "Bad" Knee point mean ?
    • HFM BM57 has a "bad" knee point, IIRC. It's not the same thing as the later R chassis MC.
    • The ATTESSA is functionally identical to R34; there were a bunch of JDM models that continued ATTESSA including Fuga/Q70, Skyline/Q50, Cima etc as an option. All with Auto only and I think mostly for snow regions. AFAIK there were no AWD VR30DDTT sold in Australia - it is on my to do list to check regs for racing a LHD car in Targa/ATR/AASA/CAMS events because if I can get the auto to work it would be interesting to run a 4wd car The Ecuteck TCM tuning is the same model as their ECU tuning, they already have it for R35 and Dose's favourite, BMW. You buy "points" to allow your computer to be tuned, buy either a bluetooth (phone app) or bluetooth+USB+Key (phone and PC) dongle, and pay for a tune that will be locked to your tuner ( ). You can also access the tuning software yourself but 1. it is mega expensive and 2. these computers have a billion parameters that intersect, so how could you ever spend enough time on it to get a decent result.
    • Or, is it a case of what it is like owning an R series Skyline? NFI what the previous owner has done or fiddled with... Ha ha ha After reading through this thread, I went on a bit of a research about the Q50/Q60. Now I'm quite intrigued by them! Is the AWD in them more like a WRX where it's always AWD, or is it more like the ATTESSA in the GTRs? By the sound of this TCU tuning, this sounds like a case of someone has made some real software for it, and you just need the right piece of hardware, and then you license that specific vehicle/TCU. Or is this a case of the software will be really expensive so only a few tuners have it, and you still have to pay a license per vehicle?
    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
