Read this thread - ultimate RB "pull hard" setup, make numbers in the range of GT35R peak power but spooling similar to the smaller GT30 range turbos:

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/426059-forced-performance-hta-turbos/

+1 for lithiums post. HTA turbos are weapons and will give you the best of both worlds. Will give you 400rwkw and the same response as a gt3076.

You'd be mad not to have a look basically

I disagree with both these clowns

LOL kidden, HTA or GTFO!

Was just trying to be helpful, was Garrett based and a lot of people don't know there is a bigger world than Garrett who have been all but left in the dust. But point noted, I have meant to have given up on trying to be "helpful" on these forums - just got a brief burst of enthusiasm for this place after finally actually meeting some SAUers... as you were :action-smiley-069:

Asks about Garrett offerings, gets advice on every other manufacturer but... :P

Well technically Garrett make the turbos with the HTA wheel :P So sort of got it...

Hhahah

I get the same thing.

Left in the dust is a little excessive, I love my GTX and the results are excellent imo. Keep your HTA fanboi speeches for the impressionable boys in the FP thread. Considering you all talk about them continuously I would find it hard to believe someone hasn't heard of FP, Precision or BW for that matter.

I think Garrett is still king of reliability in most peoples minds... for good reason. If that means they are a little slower in their design rollouts and test their turbo's for longer, I am all for it. I have a Precision 6766 on the bench at the moment, not sure I like how thin the compressor blades are. Hopefully they haven't gone too light weight just to beat the competition...

No need to sook about being 'helpful on these forums', everyone else is here for the same reason. If you don't like people having opinions that differ to yours, better stay off the interwebz.

Hi all

I read some comments here and it looks like people prefer GT30 for around 290-320rwkw power. GT30 will come on boost harder in the mid range. It looks like a more efficient option on paper.

One thing I don't understand is why would someone want harder pull in the mid range when it will create more problems with traction unless are on 3rd gear. I have rb25 with GT35 312rwkw and I have problems with traction on 2nd with 265s and shimmed diff. I've driven similar car but with a smaller turbo and it had even less traction.

Correct me if I'm wrong, since I'm new to this. If I floor it at ~3000rpm it will pull hard almost instantly and easily break the traction on a smaller GT30 turbo compared to GT35 which pulls from ~4500+ but has smoother transition from no boost to full boost.

I have read many threads about this but not many people are looking at it from this angle

Cheers

You'll find your traction control switch at the end of your right leg; when traction starts to break, lift right leg slightly.

Also on most good ECU's you can do boost by gear and just have less boost in 1st and 2nd.

No reason you can't just lift off slightly though...

Maybe of interest, I found this helped with controlling boost on my car:

http://www.gktech.com/index.php/v2-s14a-s15-eccentric-throttle-wheel.html

It will work fine on an RB25DET. The standard wheel opened the throttle quite a lot with little pedal movement, where as the GKTECH one is the opposite, ie a smooth logarithmic opening of the throttle, where 50% pedal may only be 30% throttle opening. (not sure about exact numbers)

Its good for peaky responsive turbos.

the best action ive had was with a GTX3076, 4000rpm's = Hammer time, 1st and 2nd at WOT =Black lines layed for 50meters which is f#$k yeah feeling.. 3rd= hold on

If you can do this then you know you got a wild ride, the rest is up to you and the tyres, suspension and right foot control, but personally this has set the bar for me... and now disappointed with anything less :(

Go with the Gt35. They are the bomb diggity.

They also have plastic cage bearings afaik, where as the GTX has steel cage. Hence the reason the old diesel designed GT35's have a higher failure rate. It's one of the Garrett turbos I wouldn't recommend.

Go with the GTX3076 imo for a similar power figure and quicker spool.

not wrong here. The GTX3076 is awsome fun. i love it!

    • Agreed, I've never seen a 260RS specific manual. As GTSBoy said it will mostly be stagea other than the engine loom https://www.hgeconsulting.com.au/stageaservicemanual.pdf
    • You'lll likely have to make do with R33 GTR for engine/tranny stuff, and Stagea for the body. I don't know that there's even been an actual diagram seen in the wild.
    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
