couple of em got shipped to te UK from memory from a "Nostalgic Hero" mag in japanese. This was Nissan's way of showing the westerners that "there's a new player in town". Which is where Jag noticed them and offered supprt for them.

seriously doubt it, australia wasn't considered an automotive powerhouse or viable market back then.

Unless someone was daring enough to find one in japan pay a vast amount of money and bring it down here to put in a museum. Owning one of em in Japan is like owning a model T Ford.

My old man had a triple weber mid/late 60's Skyline 4 door in the 70's, one of his friends had a few of them.

I've got photos of a few of them from the Winton Historic meeting a couple of weeks back if anyone is interested

I am interested in these pictures.

ALSI- 1 Series - Nissan Skyline

The ALSI- 1 series was built from 1957 until 1958 in sedan and station wagon form. It was powered by the GA30, a 1500ccm OHV inline 4 engine pro-ducing 60 hp at 4400rpm.

ALSI- 2 Series - Nissan Skyline

1958 saw the introduction of the ALSI- 2 series, which was built until 1963. The car was basically the same as its predecessor, except for a different bonnet emblem and a single large horizontal bar in the grille. New were also the quad head-lights instead of the twin lamps featured in the ALSI- 1 series and the GA4 engine with now 70hp.

Hey there, I am from NZ and stumbled across this site,(well the thread actually) by accident. As far as I know AU didnt get any Skylines untill 1964/65? when the S5 series was available. This included the S50 4cylinder A150, S54 6cylinder A200GTA and GTB (GTB had triple webers), that were raced. NZ had very few Skylines GT's sold here but had alot of 1965 S41 Prince Gloria 6 sedans. AU had few Glorias but more Skylines. NZ had the Skyline available in 1962 which was the BLSID-3 model (which is listed in very few websites) of which I own one. Next model was the S21-4 series which was a BLSI-3 model with a revised front end. The S5 series Skyline continued till 1967/68 known as a Nissan after 1966. The S5 series was replaced by the C10 model, which I understand, some were badged as a Prince. Prince Motors Division still exists as part of Nissan.

Check out my cardomain page for some pics.. http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/622621

If anyone has any more info please let me know..Cheers

my old man used to work on the first skylines the s5 series.... he used to work for nissan as a mechanic and serviced a gtb regularly for a customer... he loved the car said the 6's had a longer front on them to fit the engine or something, and went pretty damn well for the times!!!

Correct me if i'm wrong but that is a datsun six

Sorry V8 but that pic is of a gen u whine 1964-5 Prince Motor Company Skyline GT S54-Be2, hopefully still powered by the Prince G7 triple webered 2 litre.

Love the attitude of the car through the corner!!

:P Jim.

Ok cool....there is a car that looks the same as that (minus warpaint) just down the road from my old place.....the badge on the back says "datsun six" in cursive writing at about a 45 degree angle on the left hand side of the boot.

maybe it is the poverty pack model of the one in your pic...i dunno

If it's at all possible Jason, try and get a pic of the car....sounds intrigueing. Possibly someone has stuck a badge on the back of a Skyline from the "Datsun Six" just one of the many name formats of the larger Datsun 6 to be sold in Australia during the late 60's early seventies . Slightly larger/wider than a Prince Skyline, think of a Datsun version of a Toyota Crown.

"maybe it is the poverty pack model"

From what I remember the Prince range of vehicles to come to Australia didn't vary much in variants(?) They had the 1500cc 4cylinder Skyline, the 2litre Skyline GTB, the 2litre Gloria, (some badged as B200) and the Miler ute, all different bodies. That being said some interesting exceptions to the rule pop up every now and then...private imports, embassy and consular cars, just enough to make you wonder!? things like a Gloria Grande.

Something that does happen over the years is badges and scripting from cars destined for different markets to Australia, find their way into the country on panels sourced as spares, private imports etc and get used to replace lost or damaged originals thus causing confusion to the casual observer.

Then there is the naming and badging on the Skylines from 1964 to 1967....Geez don't get me started :) ....but thats a story for another thread! I think we've well and truely hijacked this one

:)

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
