Just like in real estate you need buyers and demand. When there is more buyers than sellers prices rise....

I remember back, years ago when there were Toranas, Monaro, Falcons, Mazda RX etc they were everywhere and prices were quite realistic but then after a while there was less and less of them for sale (and even less good ones) to the point where the prices stopped bottoming out and started to go up. You could pick up a good unmolested rx2,3,4 datto 1600 for $5-8000 and ppl were virtually giving away 808's and 1300's (you could buy neat ones under a grand)

Do you think we have nearly reached this for Skylines and other popular imports yet (supras) ? Only a few years ago our roads were full of r33's and silvias everywhere. Now as more and more have become wrecked or defected you see less and less on our roads each year now. The fact is RWD turbo sports cars are barely made these days making them more valuable as the years go on.

Just looking the number of cars listed on carsales

r32 gts-t (18)

r33 gts-t (111) When i bought my r33 6-7 years ago there were nearly 300 listed for sale !! They were so common on the roads. I realistically predict there will prob be around 50 listed for sale in 4/5 years and maybe only 15-25 in 10 years time.

Now there are 270 350z listed and 217 370z listed (this number will grow even more)

thoughts ?

But carsales is shit and way too expensive. Try that search again on gumtree where most cheap cars end up (aka skylines).

Also RWD turbos are plentiful. BMW doesn't make anything NA anymore, that new mustang thing will be rwd turbo and/or V8, Most of the new Benzes are turbo, quite a few Jags are...

All the new cars are turbo now cause of emissions BS. Factor in FWD stuff and everything is turbo lol.

My money is on higher revving NA cars appreciating, not including the Renault/Nissan V6 engined cars..

I reckon we'll all be driving BMW 135i / 335i (cos manual) and Toyo 86s become the new S13.

Realistically the only skylines to appreciate in value are R32 GTR's, or anything that is kinda 'rare'.

You cant really compare old school cars to a fairly new skyline, it will never have the same appeal, the cars of the 60's and 70's had there own appeal and look, that's why they go for crazy money, people want that old school feel, especially the rotors, they have there own thing going on.

In 20 years time cars more then likely will be a lot different and I'd say most people wont care about some mint stock R33 gtst, by that time gt86's will be the new R33 and as with anything people move on, who knows by then it might be illegal to drive a turbo six in Vic, with the way this nanny state is going.

Not exactly Skyline related...

But if i were a betting man, i'd invest in a clean VB/VK Brock SS group Commodore. Will only appreciate as the years go on, moreso now that Holden are gone.

Could be said for the XY/ 351 era of Falcons too, and some of those are already in the 6 figure value.

True iconic piece of Australian motoring history that will never be replaced! never to be repeated again!

    • Maybe they'll look to do a bunch of presales to help inject some cash fast for their financial issues...
    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
