Hey all I previously had a relatively stock r33 which I no longer have and have bought a new one, this one has had a lot of work done on it or so I was told!

Some of the things I know it has is:

Cheapish looking ffp

Upgraded injectors (don't know what they are)

Says spitfire on the front of engine so assuming?

Upgraded turbo ball bearing maybe hi flowed? Makes some noise when the cars turned off? Shaft play??

Was told there was about 15 grand done to the engine but no list of what had been done -.-

Hks pod

80mm TB

Fmic

Blitz? Bov.

And heaps more!

Was told it's near 400hp.. Rather infuriating

Does anyone know how to tell without receipts what's been done? Also I want to make the pod a bit quieter does anyone have any suggestions custom boxes? Idk!

If anyone can help me with suggestions to clean up the engine bay would be great

I'm not real sure how you expect us to know what has been done to the engine internally? Only way to find out now is to strip it and seen as you haven't indicated that there are any problems I'd say you eons be keen on that

Ask the person you bought it off, which is probably what you should have done in the first place. If I was buying a car and someone said they spent $15,000 on the engine, my first question would be "what's been done to it?"

If you look carefully you can see it actually says 'splitfire' not 'spitfire'.

A noticeable thing straight away is that they have replaced coilpack cover with the gayest thing I have seen in a long time.

It was from a car dealership but I'm not to sure about that scribble.

I tried finding out what had been done.. I got a mod list with the most basic of shjt after I got the car just the shit that's obvious and then he just said what's been done..

Coil pack cover? err.

Nah not to keen on stripping it but maybe..

unless you can find out who the tuner was your just going to have to look for your self, or take it to someone who knows a lot about 33's and have them inspect it..

By the looks of the 'wrecker writing' I'd say he blew the engine and replaced it with one to sell. so nobody will know about internals.

Good luck =)

Maaaaaaaaaate

You could ask a friend who knows what they are looking at to give you an idea on the visuals.

then Take it to your tuner. Get them to tell you what has/hasn't been done and then put it on the rollers

Learn from the experience. Once bitten twice shy

Some people and especially dealers are looking for the uninitiated/unwary.

Good luck

He's pretty much an expert. Seen alot of gay things in his time. His search history will confirm ;)

Well seeing as the car is yours now, I strongly reccomend getting on a dyno and checking out how it runs. Power , air fuel ratio , timing etc

The last thing you want is to kill an engine due to an unknown tune.

Which I'm going to say is very likely in this case.

Yeah oils and everything are sweet. They said it had a new turbo put on but I think they're full of shit cos it's noisy as f**k.

And yeah I'll have to go find somewhere (brisbane) to get it checked out. Has a haltech platinum in it. And yeah they're does seem to be a few stupid mods on it.. Been fixing slowly. But to fix something that isn't broken means spending more money haha :P

And it's even worse not knowing where to start! Haha

Hopefully it isn't just some shit engine in there hooked up to 14.7psi :O

Hahah yeah hopefully! Took it to a mechanic when got roady and had some shit done. All they managed to do was make the car run like shit cos they f**ked my throttle body and now it idles too high and put my tune out of wack and then replaced my bov which I then had to replace again -.-

There looks like alot of ebay on there...

Maybe check the fpr is genuine, of not, ditch it and get a better one. Why would you buy a dar if you dont know whats been done to it?

the pedal was sticking and so they cut the screw or some sit and moved the throttle body too high? And yeah they had the stock on there non plumbed and it was ducked haha

Fpr? I'm planning on "defaggotizing" this. And I was originally getting a different one.. I sent someone to pick it up and they came back with this one.. What a tard

    • Hi...so a "development" here aswell The swap is "done" and car went "test drive" BUT it seems the clutch(maybe gearbox?) is a little bit sad? I bought this clutch kit https://justjap.com/products/xtreme-heavy-duty-organic-clutch-flywheel-kit-nissan-skyline-r31-r32-r33-push-type "Problem" is that the first gear is hard to put into and it seems that the clutch is not disengaged. It was not the problem with the old clutch...(or like sometime the first gear would not get as easy specialy when the fluid was cold) So? Can it be like...bad "install" or is the clutch wrong ((it should not have been) i done research to get the right one) Or is this "normal" with new clutch and needs to be break in?
    • @Duncan I can try  and thanks i did not thought about VIN and part numbers for 33/34. @GTSBoy yeah it looks like iam gonna do that
    • Forgot to include this but this is the mid section of my steering rack that looks like it has a thread/can be turned with that notch mentioned in the post:
    • Hey everyone, Wanted to pick some brains about this issue I'm having with rebuilding my 33 rack (PN is 49001-19U05). All of the tutorials/videos I've seen online are either R34 or S Chassis racks which seem to be pretty straightforward to disassemble but this process doesnt carry over to my rack. Few of the key differences that I've noted The pinion shaft on the other racks bolt on with 3 torx bolts: Whereas my rack bolts on with 2 allen head bolts: These changes are pretty inconsequential but the main difference is how you pull the actual rack out of the housing. The other skyline/s chassis racks can be taken out by tapping the rack out of the body with a socket and it just slides right out. I'm unable to do that with my rack because there's a hard stop at the end that doesn't let the seal/shaft be tapped out. Can also see a difference in the other end of the rack where mine has a notch that looks like you're able to use a big wrench to unthread 2 halves of the rack whereas the other racks are just kinda set in with a punch. My rack: Other racks: TLDR; Wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt this specific model of steering rack for the R33 and if there were any steps to getting it done easier or if I should just give this to a professional to get done. Sorry if this post is a bit messy, first one I've done.
    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
