That explains the facey message I got at 9:06 am.

THere isn't an issue compatability wise, the only issue you might run into is that the heads between the LS1 and L98/LS3s are different if I remember correctly.

Having said that, alot of people who are chasing power with the LS1s end up swapping their heads for either the L98 or LS3, as the flow rate of theose heads are top notch, even without touching them.

So if you happen to do a head swap, then absoloutley, the blower will fit on.

Nicely done

Ps: Your old cars still looked after the way you had it. Just now it's got a bigger fuel system, built motor and turbo haha. Never ends.

Thanks mate! Ahhhh so glad to hear! Would love to catch up sometime and see how things have progressed :)

Just realised I haven't updated this thread in ages soooooooo, brace yourself for Twin Turbo V8 goodness. I'll start back from when the saga began :)

Firstly, the minor things. Installed and programmed E1 HSV dash cluster and HSV flat-bottom steering wheel (soz, no pics of this sintalled yet). The HSV logo on the face is a bit dicky for me, so looking at getting a new face overlay.

And now the major part that's been in the works. Started with these:

UPDATE: Car went into the mechanics/tuner yesterday morning to begin taking the blower off and start fabbing and installing the twin turbo setup.

PLOT TWIST: Car is also getting converted from the standard auto 6-speed to a 6-speed manual at the same time as the TT.

Got a few pics of the parts I picked up in the past week. Tuner/mechanic has got the rest such as Turbosmart 40mm external wastegates, intercooler, BOV etc.

Ripshift. Everyone says a ripshift is the bees kness in a manual commo, so figured I might as well get one so that it can get dropped in at the same timed as the box going in:

Turbosmart E-Boost Street. Originally had my heart set on the E-Boost 2 as I was wrapt with the series 1 E-Boost in my R33, but the more I read into it, the more I noticed that alot of the features I wasn't going to use. So it made sense to go the Street as it had eveyrhting I wanted.

And I also went on a memorial crusie for a very close mate of mine that passed away recently. Cheers to AL Photography for the pics! Keen to get a photoshoot done with him as soon as I get my car back :D

Popped down to MPW last night to have a bit of gander at progress. Everything on track and looks exactly how I envisioned it, so cheers to Adam and the boys there for getting it how I want. Fingers crossed she's all done either later this week or early next week.

Turbos all mounted up and good to go. Just need oil/water lines and external gates to be chucked in

Bar and plate 'cooler sitting somwhere behind the front bar. Stealth, just how I like it

IMG_4202.jpg

IMG_4204.jpg

Here you can see the cold side intercooler piping that leads to the throttle body going through the gutted airbox

IMG_4206.jpg

And this is how she looks under the bonnet. Still need to get the radiator cover panel and change the blue silicone to black.

some serious work. new bonnet looks leagues better than before, top choice

thing was/is going to be a monster. cant wait to here it with the manual.

Thanks mate! Hits the rollers tomorrow so fingers crossed I get her back over the next day or so :D

do they put little pod filters on those?!

Yeah, we'll be using the K&N short-stack pod filter :)

Love the stealth location of them turbos...

I'd imagine you'd run pipes to the front bumper? pods that low would get destroy by rocks and shit

That was the original plan but being GT3076Rs in 56T, there's absolutley no room to run pipes without going to rubber pipes. Tuner is hesitant to use the rubber pipes as in the past they've sucked shut on full noise.

PM the moderators and have them do it for you if asked nicely?

Cheers!

And the car has been back in my posession since last Friday and I am stoked! TOTALLY fallen in love with the car again! Car pulls like a train without any noticeable lag and doesn't hesitate to light them up when you give it some curry.

I'm still getting used to the new clutch, as it's pretty heavy and doesn't really allow you to slip or ride it. Basically on or off. Coupled with the diff and cam that's in there now, anything less than ~1700rpm and you can feel it buck and can tell it's not happy at those speeds. Doesn't really bother me at all, gives the car a more "raw" feel that I've been longing for since I moved away from the R33. Bit of a learning curve, especially from hill starts. Low-speed roundabouts requries clutch in and blip of throttle before engaging gear but overall, I'm extremely stoked with the manual conversion and the TT :D

View of the Turbosmart 38mm external gates with twin screamers before it all went back together :D

Still waiting for a radiator cover panel to finish it off, but pretty much 99% there.

IMG_4332.jpg

IMG_4334.jpg

Turbosmart Kompact Dual Port BOV hidden inside the gutted airbox. Still waiting on another trumpet to replace the plumback port to make it a Megasonic. Keen eyed observers will notice the MAF has been gutted and is just a shell, since we're running MAP, only needed the MAF body for the full stealth look :)

IMG_4335.jpg

Overflow tank and catch can. I might fab up a small shield to hide the filter, but from the pic, you can see the overflow tank and 90% of the catch can is hidden under the intake resonators.

IMG_4340.jpg

IMG_4341.jpg

Full manual conversion done witht he ripshifter in there. Love it. Boost controller is mounted on the lower side of the dash, near where your left leg would rest. I'm looking to move this somewhere where it's in the line of sight. Was thinking on top of the steering column but I dummied it up and it didn't fit :( Anyone have any ideas?

    • I was using the wiring diagram I have So 12.74V is coming into the rear Fuel Pump relay as I measured.  When I turn the key to ON im getting 0.6V to the Fuel Pump plug; which i assume is backfeed voltage and doesnt include the 12V from ignition power.  The rear relay is working and being triggered.  From the diagram I clearly see the rear relay 80 = Rear Relay going into the Body/H loom (R-27) 27 = Fuel Pump plug going into the Body/H loom (T-20) 40 = Short Connector (R-27) I'm reading 12.74V on the blue/black wire which is the power for the Fuel Pump   From this diagram I can see the Ignition relay goes into the front and up to the ignition  2 = Fuel Pump Relay <1M> (R-27) 37 = ING Relay <1M> I started from the pump using this reference Which the way I read it (referencing Nissan wiring color codes) is: Pin Wire Color Function 1 B/P (Black/Pink) Ground 2 L/W (Blue/White)        ECU Trigger 3 SB (Sky Blue) Fuel Pump 5 L/B (Blue/Black) 12V Constant Tested SB to SB on Fuel Pump for continuity - confirmed Tested negative on Fuel Pump to 12V battery and L/B - confirmed 12V Pulled the relay putting 12V between Pin 1 & 2 and testing continuity on Pin 3 & 4 - confirmed relay   So that has me looking at this part of the circuit to understand whats happening here...and im still confused. From best I can tell; the disconnect is back to my previous diagram; between Ignition Relay and Fuel Pump Relay...which yet again; afaik is where the immobiliser should.    Thats what I was trying to explain to GTSboy; im not trying to fix it myself; yet I seem to have to get a Masters in Electrical Engineering (while im busy doing my actual job of DevOps & Cloud Engineering) somehow.  I just wanted more expert opinions; or more so that what I tested is correct and proves it to something around that area; to go back to the alarm tech (for a 3rd time) that he needs to fix it. He keeps telling me its not the alarm. He lives on the complete other side of the city so i understand not wanting to make a trip but as I said before if its the alarm it should be up to him to fix it. But he's adament its not; even though I pointed out the FP was immobilised through the original alarm. To my mind; it seems that the ECU is sending the signal; but the ignition is not getting 12V down the line.
    • Maybe also really stiffly sprung track cars. Get the inside wheel up in a corner and all the fun stops. Also me sometimes (rarely) when I have to stand on the brake to convince the diff to drive the wheel that is still on the ground when I'm trying to diagonally get over severe driveway entrance, etc.
    • I feel like I'm missing something. You had an authorised installer come out and install a new alarm. Post install the car doesn't start, and you aren't getting the installer back to fix what they did wrong?
    • So either way it is gearbox out and look what is wrong?  I know about the input shaft bearing. Even before swap/new clutch the it sounded exactly like this: So is that inout shaft bearing or the other was installed backwards?  And can some please tell me the part number for that input shaft bearing? The gearbox is small box from R34 N/A and number is FS5W71C. Thank you
    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
