Hey guys. This morning I swapping cam caps around and I looked away and dropped a cam washer. i didnt see where it weent. I looked underneath the car, not there. Looked around the cam couldnt find it. I got a magnet stick put it every where around the vam shaft cant find it all. If it was in there should be easy to find because its a decent size washer. Not sure what I should do now? Take the cam out and keep looking.

Why were you swapping can caps around? They are specific to the one spot, as that's how they were machined. You can't just go swapping them around.

Its a rb25 with 26 covers and i have mines baffles and i was swapping the cam caps to no.2 and 3.

See the fundamental conflict here?

Mate what Ben is pointing out here is all cam caps are line bored for the particular head they're on.

If you swap any cap, the whole show needs to be re-line bored.

You may think they look like they're going to fit, but it only takes a few thou off and they'll seize to the cam.

Now you may be dead lucky and things actually fit, in which case great.

But be prepared, could be a disaster around the corner.

When you put on the mines/hi octane baffles you have to move the spray/splash guards to stop oil spraying off the cam lobe into the cam cover breather, just the spray guard not the cam cap

Look on the chassis rail under the AC line, had that happen before, mass PITA

Well where will i put the cam caps? they were on on 6 and 7. and i jus got mines baffles

are you talking about the pressed steel splash guards?

If so, change the bolts into a different cam cap and move the splash guards onto them

If I dropped a washer into the head, and couldn't find it I would tell myself off sternly, then carry on with life.

The Washer Will Find A Safe Place to live in the sump, hiding in the corner away from the spinning bits.

Then every oil change I would look through the oil with the excitement of a child at Christmas hoping to find the washer, but only to be disappointed time and time again.

I am more worried about the swapped caps rather than the washer. Unless by cap you mean splash guard.

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
