Confirmed Entry List (entries full)

https://www.meecamsau.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=25&eventId=609&Itemid=521

At this point entries are full, thank you everyone for the interest. Sorry to those who didn't make it in, however this is a test event for us. I'm hopeful to open entries to a larger number of people next time around.

There are still a couple of spots up for grab to new members who want to get involved. So if you've signed up in the last 12 months, PM me.

As most of our members are aware, our previous Motorkhana facility (DECA Shep) was sold in 2014. The new owners of the facility altered the hire arrangements and made it impossible to insure the facility under AASA.

The committee with your support spent a good part of 2014 investigating new venues to conduct Motorkhana and entry level Motorsport events in 2015.

I'm happy to announce that we will open entires to members for our first Motorkhana of 2015 this Friday the 16th of January 2015 at 7AM. Entry details will be published on the forums, facebook, email and on our website.
In preparation for entry you should sign up for a CAMS Event Entry login (free). As this is the system we will be using to manage entries for this event.
https://www.meecamsau.com/

We will be taking entries via credit/debit card only. Processed through the CAMS secure payment system.

There will only be 30 positions available!
Saturday the 28th of February
Members Entry Fee $85
Affiliated Car Clubs Entry Fee $105

Please read the suppregs and ensure you read through and understand them carefully.

(note this is our first CAMS template and we will improve the consistency as we move forward)

The new facility is the Foresite Training complex in North Laverton. We have to extend a thank you to the owners and operators of the site for allowing us to conduct this (and hopefully future) events.

Example of site (not setup as we will have it)

SAU VIC has been affiliated with CAMS for a number of years, which allows our member to apply for competition licenses and attend track days, hill climbs and Motorkhana events held by other clubs under CAMS insurance.

The big change for SAU VIC in 2015 is that we will be conducting events under CAMS insurance.
In previous years a AASA license would have allowed you to enter our Motorkhana events, this is no longer the case. You will need to hold at a minimum a CAMS L2NS license. This type of license will allow you to attend our and other clubs Motorkhana events only.
We would suggest that you opt to get the L2S license however, as it gives you access to attending events at track days (Sandown, Phillip Island, Winton, Calder etc).
http://docs.cams.com.au/CAMS%20Forms/Competitors/CAMS%20Level%202%20Licence.pdf

CAMS requires you to be a member of a CAMS affiliated car club (of which we are), so if you aren't a member of SAU VIC become one today.

The schedule for the event will be forthcoming closer to the date. This being the first time using the site and running a CAMS based event, we expect there will be some bugs to iron out.

We will also be announcing shortly:
> Driver Skills and Practise Day (Sandown)
> Driver Skills and Timed Laps (Broadford)

Yours sincerely,
SAU VIC President

so the insurance is limited by the venue, eg calder/PI refuse AASA insurance.

this venue is being run under CAMS insurance and thus they don't allow AASA licenses.

we were having trouble getting AASA to cover some of our events (one of the reasons deca died off for us)

so we have moved to CAMS so yes you need a CAMS license, but still better than no events at all.

nope but they will take insurance from dodgy brothers so long as they could get a booking.

basically in VIC it just winton and calder that will accept.

we need CAMS for all the other venues we will be hiring this year as well,

plus cams work everywhere so people much better off to have that anyhow.

Entered. God bless SAU-Vic member priority entry - gonna suck if you aren't a member, looks like this is gonna sell out fast

And as for CAMS / AASA - just get CAMS, you can use it at AASA events ... So you never have a problem with will/wont it work

    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
    • Well they got my money but they are not getting my gearbox !
    • It's needed for rolling idle up, and I think it is a decider on VCT also.
    • I mean, not really. Link ECU's can absolutely still have errors from the ECU thinking it's getting a sensor it's not expecting. I would imagine the speed at the ECU level in Nistune does absolutely nothing anyway? I assume the ECU does not do any fancy TC stuff with regards to front+rear wheel speed or anything of that like anyway. Someone who uses Nistune may be more fluent in it.
