I have searched for previous threads, but have not found an answer to this quesiton. I know tha everyone has different views about copper/platinum/iridium. Personally, i believe in using coppers, and changing them frequenty.

My question is to do with the gapping. Stock gapping is 1.1mm. yet, when running stock boost, i tend to get misfire. Plugs have not been changed ever since i've got the car (probably 15000 ks). Should I get plugs gapped at 1.1mm? (car is running stock boost, just zorst and air filter). i've noticed that some of you guys run 0.8 or 0.7. is this only if you run more boost? like would it be beneficial to run 0.8 mm even at stock boost?

Is regapping plugs bad? i've got a feeler gauge and i was wondering if it is ok to just regap them and put them back in after a clean? or should I just buy new ones?

what is the heat rating of a spark plug?

I pulled my cover plugs out, haven't been changed for 20000 ks. They are all dirty and gapped at 1.4 mm.

I was thinking about just buying some new ngk plugs. How do i decide which heat rating to get, and what would be the difference between a 1.1m and a 0.8 m gap? stock boost, just zorst and airfilter

my 33 would mis-fire when it had only an exhaust and pod and no boost. used 6 heat range coppers gapped to 0.8 and it solved all my problems. i think the 0.8 gapped ngk copper is bcpr6es (dont get bcpr6es-11 - 1.1gap).

U can get the bcpr6es-11 which are already gapped to 1.1mm and simply tap them in a bit to whatever u desire with the use of feeler gauges.

are they gapped to 1.4 or worn to 1.4? i would be fixing that asap, u will notice a big difference. Nissan recommends heat range 5 but most people say to use 1 range higher for a certain hp increase from stock.

Hey ive had my 32 for about a month or so i dont think the spark plugs have been changed, im all new to this, after just reading all the posts it still doesnt make sense. Im runnig 10 psi on it exhaust, SAFC 2 cold air intake and dump pipe from turbo, and i think i should change the spark plugs for peace of mind does anyone know what sought i should get copper/irridium/?

What gapping should i have and stuff like that. It's for an R32 GTS-T.

Car approx has 86,500kms on the clock.

shark33: my theories are as follows:

a car with standard ecu runs rich and fouls plugs quickly. in this case, use copper plugs and change regularly. now a car with a tuned ecu or safc or the like will run leaner afr's so plugs dont foul as fast and you dont have to change them as often.

So If i was using a standard ecu id use coppers, any aftermarket ecu or piggyback, id be looking at platinums or iridiums. I have recently gone from coppers 6 heat to platinums 7 heat after putting a powerfc in.

I just changed my spark plugs..

I went from PFR5A-11..

and put a set of BCPR6ES in my stock r32 gtst (115 on the clock)

I cant rememebr what the gapping is of these, but it did not have the '11" on the box, which means that its either 1.1 or 0.9 i think the guy at repco explained.

Dont seem to be missing as far as im aware?

    • Dredgggggeeee time; I have recently finally started driving the car. It sat for so long that the fuel tank gave birth to rust sludge and blocked my lift pump sock and one of my walbro 460's and left grime, rust chunks and muck all through the surge tank and system. I decided to commit and pull the trigger on an oem r32 gtr fuel tank and Frenchys twin 460 / sender / surge tank hanger combo and all new larger lines and fittings etc, also boost doc heater hose kit / new heater core and a heap of other bits and shits like wideband sensor installed in the dump and Syltech iacv + lines and all wired and added to current tune. now having lightly driven it a couple times without issue, I can happily report on the hta3076 in its current tune. still no boost control switched on, 20psi gate springs, car makes 22psi at 3200rpm in 6th gear with 30-50% TPS from cruise at 100kmh. Going by the old graph, this means it should be making 300-325whp at the same numbers above. Very very responsive setup under true road driving loads. all that's left for the build is body loom + PDM, finish the remote aircon setup, install carbon fibre parts and go for full tune and 30psi. the 315 rear tyres are now performing like they're 195's, wheel spin in any gear at almost any rpm, whereas my previous setup hooked up in 3rd no issue, albeit Nt01's back then / RB25 5spd vs (new) old date r888r's Z34 6spd now, + obviously all the support upgrades I listed in the quoted post above. car sits at 1-3psi on cruise at 100kmh, expectations totally exceeded and I'm beyond stoked with all this so far. • I've also been eyeing their rear axles for my car. I purchased seat mounts from them about 7 years ago and they were hot garbage so I've been a little wary about purchasing them. With that being said, please buy them and get back to us haha.
    • Can a moderator please move this into the right category.. I've accidently put this into racing build thread 🤦🏽‍♂️
