You can use that as a guide on how to decode the plate and what each letter means. For that plate I have no idea what the last 3 letters mean. But seems like a Standard GTR that's imported.

If it was ADM or Nismo, etc you'd notice the letters would have a certain combination, etc.

BNR32002355 would indicate an early run from 1989. These are in demand in USA now.

Model# alphanumeric indicates what it came out of the factory with.

See if "Iron Chef Imports" might export it for you to the State, depending on its condition. In the USA he's known as Iron Block imports

You should have an import plate also as Terry said in addition to the build plate. Once a car is registered in Australia for the first time though the import plate doesn't have to be displayed either after that.

If in doubt you can always check the VIN number on Nissan Fast or something to confirm the status of the car.

Once the car is registered it will have all the compliance details attached to it as it's required.

lol the fact that he would have payed plenty for an aust delivered, if he didnt pay through the nose and some how ended up with one and never realized it... he would have won at life.

i have however wandered how much my 89gtr would be worth in the USofA this year....... just y'know.. wondered :)

It's gun metal grey so it's an import

Aussie ones only came in red, silver and black. Apart from a couple that were used as pace cars that momo did a few things to and they were green

Also if it was brought in under the 15 year rule (before it was changed) it won't have an Australian compliance plate

There is a thread for getting VIN's fasted you can post in if you don't mind waiting a day or so to get the results back.

Ghost posted the link earlier, just go to the last page and add the VIN you want fasted I guess. Should provide most of the details.

If the car is currently registered in a state you can also go to the state government website and do a quick check with the VIN for details regarding compliance and security for free or a small fee usually.

almost no need to fast bud. we practically share vins.

ok more research shows allot of conflicting info

M: Limited slip diff/ rear wiper less (which i have) ???

Z: Cold weather pack/ early n1 spec ???

G: still nothing

so more info suggests the following

M = P+Q (Climate control + upgraded sound)

Z = Cold pack? heated side rear view mirrors

G = B+D (ABS + Visc LSD)

still unsure as M states elsewhere about the wiperless windscreen which i do have.

never found out for sure.
.... but yours has a rear wiper, mine did not. otherwise almost identical base cars.

    • I got a quote to restore a set of Volk racing gtc wheels at a wheel restoration shop which involved repainting the centres fixing some small gutter rash and repolishing them and the quote was $2.5k I ended up getting them sandblasted and powdercoated for $240

    • Has anybody had their wheels refurbished? I reckon it's likely bloody expensive. Even a sand blasting quote for my 17s was 200-300 per wheel! The E39 wheels are basic BMW M Sport (or M Tech at the time.) they have slight rash and some have signs of bad repair in the past on the lips. The main issue is that they've become really off coloured.  I think it will be too much as this is definitely (supposed to be) a budget resto. I've been looking at others for sale but they all have some minor damage and colour issues.  In the end I think I'll just need to sand blast them myself and do a respray.
    • Trying to figure out which nismo cluster i have. All the ones i see on the internet, the speedo goes up to 320kph and the revs 11k, with the nismo logo being on the rev gauge only. But on my one, the speedo goes up to 300 and says nismo, while the revs only go upto 10k and no nismo logo Dunno how to embed pics into a post so ill attach pic of my cluster and generic google search for reference Is what i have genuine?
