I am not convinced that red badges denote "turbo". I know its all over the net but I am sure I know of someone with a red badged N/A R33 who told me what it stood for but that was quite a few years ago.

I'm unsure about 34's but my first skyline was a r33 gts25 type-s which was the best of the NA r33's (slightly more power, standard viscous LSD (option on lower models)) unsure what else was different, but it had the red GT badges to differentiate it from the non type-s. I worked with a guy who after being in my car several times went out and got himself a blue badged number and it was a totally different car....haha...he was gutted..... I have fond memories of that car, it wasn't slow and was the most reliable skyline i have owned by a long long way

Hey, my GT badges are red and white on my R34 N/A. Mines a GT-V model which is essentially a GTT with a non-tubo engine. So right now I could do an engine swap to a turbo, and it would bolt straight on. It would be a lot of effort to replace the engine with a another one, then to have to change that back to the non turbo one. Though having a turbo timer does seem a bit weird. Camber wouldn't mean anything i don't think, camber is just the angle of the wheels.

I'm the first owner in Aus for my car, so nothing has been changed. I can take a picture of the badges if you'd like?

Also I do believe yours may be a GT-V as well, but can't be 100% sure. What year model is it?

Also if you can, post a picture of your interior, speedo etc, I should be able to tell from that if it's a GT-V.

In saying that, I already had the turbo chassis/driveline so it was significantly cheaper, as suggested, sell up and buy a turbo model

My r34 is the GT-V (same brakes as the GTT,brakes,LSD ECT) so i thought if i changed the pistons and rods to 8:1 and got a new ecu + turbo manifold ect it might be easier and cheaper ? Im not sure though Cheers Jordy 32

    • They are under bucket shims. Tomei provides a test shim kit and then any measurement of shim required. 
    • I always wondered how you were supposed to buy a set of 24 buckets and somehow magically have every single one of them yield exactly the desired clearance. I would have thought you'd need to assemble a cam with either 12 "sample" or "example" buckets of known top thickness (or a single such sample/example 12 times over!!) measure clearances at every valve, and then do the usual math to work out what the actual "shimness" of each bucket needed to be, before buying the required buckets to make up he thicknesses that you didn't have on hand.
    • I now seem to be limited in power due to my rev limit/hydraulic lifters in my built RB25. I'm looking into converting over to Tomei solid lifters. Question for anyone that has done the conversion. I was always under the impression that when using the Tomei solid lifter conversion, you would also require new valves (Longer or shorter stems, I can't remember which).  I don't know where I got this idea, as so far I see no mention of this in any of the Tomei documentation. It just states I need the Tomei solid buckets, solid lifter cams and upgraded springs. As my head is already built, all I would need is another set of 1000$ Kelford cams, 500$ buckets and about 4H hours of my time installing and I'm off to the races!?!? There's no way it's that simple, I must be missing something? 
    • I couldn't agree more. I should have started from the get-go with a NEO or solid bucket conversion. I started looking into converting over to solid lifters yesterday.
