Ok so, I got my 2003 V35 from the complaince shop just over two weeks now. On the way home I filled it up because the light was on for low fuel, anyway, normally when you get near full the handle will click itself off to stop you from over filling, in each of my previous cars I could get another 3-4 clicks out of the handle before it was actually full full. Now my V35, nope, didn't even click once which lead to over-filling the tank and having fuel run down the side of my car (not good needless to say) :( I thought it might have possibly been a fauly pump and or handle so I decided to just wait until next fill-up, which I had done last weekend, completely different petrol station (and pump obviously). Exact same thing happened, I even tried listening to when it was getting full but I still over-filled it. No clicks or anything again. Has anyone else had this issue? I'd really like to figure out why it's doing it because I like to completely fill my tank but don't want fuel constantly running down the side of my paintwork. :(

Thanks George, had a read and good info. Never really known how it all works, but the issue I'm having is that the nossle isn't clicking off when it gets full, not even once. Even with giving it breaks when filling and trying to listen to it while filling I can't tell when it's about to overflow..

Nope. That's what I tried listening for the second time filling it up and couldn't really hear much.

I can't see how this could be an issue with your car.. although it seems unlikely, I think you managed to get 2 faulty fuel bowsers.

Possibly. I would doubt it though as 2 different ones at 2 different servos.

Are you sure they fitted a fuel filler restrictor at compliance? Sounds like they didn't.

I wouldn't have a clue. Is there any way to check without ripping out the fuel tank? Because I'm sure that's a huge pain in the ass. Shouldn't they come with one from factory anyway, even in Japan?

Just work out roughly how many litres the tank will take according to his many kms you've done. Problem solved.

That was the thought in the long run if I can't figure out why it's doing it. I'd rather not have to work it out everytime I go to fill up, granted I've only had to fill it up twice so far but even then, the first time (one the way back from the compliance shop) it was on bare empty with the light on, like the needle was at the very bottom empty line and I only managed to get about 57 litres in it (I think) when everywhere I've read they have a 65L tank. So it would take a few more times to probably work out how much I can put in it from where the niddle is sitting, not to mention probably spill it a few more times. :(

Sounds about right then if you have about 8L to spare at that point.

If you can't hear the bubbling, which is definitely an obvious sound, then there may be something going on with your breather or the vapour canister. Probably from the previous owner overfilling it too. There is absolutely no advantage to filling it past the first click. At most, I gently continue to the nearest dollar, which is only about another 500mL at most. Anything more than that is asking for trouble with your vapour capture system.

Yep, I'm more than happy to just let it fill to the first click and leave it after reading the above link article. But the problem still remains, it doesn't even click once. :(

    • What 1.5 way? There's no such thing really as a 1.5 way, just different ways of explaining 2 ways with different ramp rates. HOWEVER. In any driving in a straight line your 1.5 or 2 or 1.7 way should have no clunking at all. With the clutch fully depressed the diff should be silent (unless it's welded but I'm assuming it's not). Something aint right here.
    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
