QYQ
Will I have issues with rubbing on a R33 GTR V-spec @ stock height on 18x10 +12 wrapped in 275/40/18? Thx Edited October 14, 2015 by QYQ Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/460372-will-this-rub/ Share on other sites
Hadouken
Should be fine. Except for that 40 profile on the tyre Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/460372-will-this-rub/#findComment-7619932 Share on other sites
QYQ
Are you saying it won't be drivable? Or it will rub on full lock? Hadouken
You need 35 profile maybe even 30 with a 275. And it will probably rub the inner guard if lowered. If you leave it at stock height it will be fine. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/460372-will-this-rub/#findComment-7619956 Share on other sites
QYQ
Stock height would be fine for which profile? just need some help with a purchase. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/460372-will-this-rub/#findComment-7619958 Share on other sites
QYQ
At the moment I'm running the factory 245/45/17 and I have plenty of room so I was think of filling up the gaurds with a larger tyre wheel combo. I'm not planning on lowering the car at all. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/460372-will-this-rub/#findComment-7619963 Share on other sites
GTSBoy
You do not want the tyre to have a higher sidewall than stock. You do not want to increase rolling diameter. You do not want these things. 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/460372-will-this-rub/#findComment-7619965 Share on other sites
QYQ
What's the issue with increasing rolling diameter. I though what's important was to keep all 4 tyres the same size for the awd Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/460372-will-this-rub/#findComment-7619968 Share on other sites
admS15
^you will be more likely to rub the tyres due to increased diameter and speedo will also be out. I run 265/35/18 and they are just about right. If I was to go 275 or bigger I would be going with a 30 profile. Use a tyre size calculator on the webz and try to match the factory rolling diameter as close as possible with your new size. GTSBoy
Ever heard of speedo error? Ever heard of ADRs? You're actually not permitted to change the rolling diameter of your wheels beyond a certain (small) percentage anyway, or it's a defect. 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/460372-will-this-rub/#findComment-7620002 Share on other sites
admS15
According to ADRs and other stupid rules your apparently not allowed to fit a rim greater than 1" width and 1" diameter over stock. Sigh. I guess that's why most of us keep a set of some sort of stock rims just in case. but hey who could be farked getting defected. niZmO_Man
3% increase in rolling diameter size. You'll be fine. But you have an R33, you have more room than R32s. Put 285/35/18 on there. I run 275/30/18 on mine (18x10 +20). Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/460372-will-this-rub/#findComment-7620036 Share on other sites
QYQ
Think it's too close for comfort for the 275/40/18 so I'm going for the 275/35/18 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/460372-will-this-rub/#findComment-7620061 Share on other sites

I guess that's why most of us keep a set of some sort of stock rims just in case. but hey who could be farked getting defected. I believe we have 2" increase as the 33 ways more than 1400kg FWIW guys, at least in SA, they do not actually still go by those old rules regarding a fixed number of inches increase in wheel width or wheel diameter. So long as the % change in rolling diameter is inside the limits you can do any diameter change you like. So that comes down to availability of suitable profile tyres. Same with the width. So long as track is not out of spec and wheels/tyres do not poke or have interference problems, you can have as many inches extra as you like. Of course, practically this often works out to being not much difference to the old blanket rules anyway. So while I know this to be the case in SA, it may or may not be in other states. But it was my understanding that most of the other states are being equally realistic about it these days. The old rules were written in simpler times.
