goddam it!!

I locked up the brakes big time (saw my skid marks tonight hehe) as it hopped across in front of the car but I still clipped it with a HUGE whack on the drivers side front... but the damage doesn't seem to be too bad. My drivers side headlight is smashed to pieces and the end of the front quarter panel is slightly dented, but other than that - seems to be ok.

sooo, can anyone recommend a good smash repairer? And do you think i'd be better off finding a new headlight myself to save some $$? i think I'll need the whole unit.

thanks guys...oh and take it easy on hindmarsh dr late at night ;)

Damn that sucks, I hit a wallaby a couple of months back, didnt do much damage to my car except now i have a couple of flat spots that make the driving a little rougher.

My g/f's car just got fixed at Burgins bodyworks in Belconnen, was the one that NRMA reccommended. I dont know how they are with prices as the crash wasnt my fault so i didnt have to pay. But they did do an awsome job, always kept me informed of what they were doing and tried their best to get the car done for me asap. I can highly reccommend them.

Cheers

My mate hit a baby roo last night at about 2am leaving my place, right in my street. He drives a 4WD, his car was fine but he killed the roo. The worst part is i told him not to go fast down my street cause i know they're always about yet he still hit one.

Anyways, sorry about your car, and good luck with the repairs.

Shell I would try to source the light and the front pannel on the site. Then get the pannel painted and fit every thing your self (if there is no stucture damage!). Will only end up costing you a couple hundred if you go that way... If you are not sure about pulling bits off your car there are always people here that can help. It would only be a couple of hours once the pannel is painted and my and Jay95R33 could help you out...

Sorry for speaking for you Jay...

Saw that this morning. Roos are always hanging out round your place. You'se feeding them or something!

Hit a roo 2 years back - dinted front quarter panel and took passenger side mirror off, cost round 800 to fix eveything (panel, new mirror, fit & paint). Dudes out in HALL did it!

Now that's chuncky !!

Shell - place in Hume was Prestige Automotive - Unit 4, 3 Sleigh Place. If you go in to talk to them about it, talk to Pete, he is the owner of the place. Tell him that Jayson (the fella that wrote off his silver R33) sent you. He might give you some $$ off..

Pete doesn't mind a chat either :D Everytime I popped in there I'd end up talking for 30 minutes :D

thanks so much guys.

I'll go get some quotes next week...gonna pay for it myself cos the excess on my insurance is $1100 and i'm ASSUMING it will cost less than that!! i really hope so anyway! :)

and I'll try some jap wreckers for a headlight (or maybe two Ewen, if they're not too pricey ;) )

Veilside R33, tell me more about the 4dr ones...i didn't know they were different?

GunMetalR33 & Jay.. thanks for the offer! u guys are too nice! but i think i'll take it into a shop tho...just wanna be sure there's not more damage i can't see. but thanks heaps :)

What i can't work out is what happened to the damn roo!!! If i didn't kill it, I sure as hell broke it's legs lol. I pulled over to check the damage (and throw all the glass from the headlight into the bushes)...looked back to the big cloud of smoke and fog behind me and it was goooone!!

    • So either way it is gearbox out and look what is wrong?  I know about the input shaft bearing. Even before swap/new clutch the it sounded exactly like this: So is that inout shaft bearing or the other was installed backwards?  And can some please tell me the part number for that input shaft bearing? The gearbox is small box from R34 N/A and number is FS5W71C. Thank you
    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
    • D2 and Ksport are essentially the same thing and basically just generic Taiwanese manufacture. Better than ChinaBay crap, but... not top shelf. Öhlins have got to be some of the best dampers around, so likely to be a good option. It's going to get to the point though where I suggest you buy from Oz. We have at least 2x excellent options here. If I were you though, I'd be talking to KW about doing something for the R33. There's bugger all difference between that and the 32. In GTR land, anyway.
    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
