R33 Jared
Hey all, I have just installed my Splitfires. I went to plug in what I thought to be my Series 2 Ignition loom, but it doesn't mate with my Splitfires. I plugged in what I thought to be my Series 1 Ignition Loom and it mates perfectly with the Splitfires. I have some photos below, can some experts please give a straight answer to: - WHICH IS SERIES 1 & WHICH IS SERIES 2. R33 Jared
Series 2 black plug no ignitor Do you know what the Ignitor specifically does? Just out of curiosity..how can the S2 function without it? Is it internal or something? Ty1
I believe the ignitor part is built into the s2 ecu or something like that. GTSBoy
Nope. S2 coils have ignitors built in. So the output from the ECU is the same. In S1 it goes to the ignitor module (which is really just 6 big arse transistors) and the ignitor transistor feeds the decent current that the coil needs to the coil. In the S2, the ECU output goes direct to the coil and the coil also has separate power/earth wiring and the ignitor built in does the same trick, just right there on top of the coil. hardsteppa
S2 have the coilpack and ignitor both built into the plastic casing.
