I have a r33gtst that is booked for a tune tomorrow.

I have all the supporting mods like r34 highflow, power fc etc.

My goal is about 240 atw

I bought a 1000cc topfeed xspurt injector kit from scottynm35 and even though i assumed they were too big, i was told that they are a much more modern design, can flow well at all power levels and therefore would be suitable for my application.

however the tuner tells me they are way too big and will not be suitable for my goals, he told me he can safely run the stock injectors by upping the fuel pressure with my aftermarket fuel reg.

What do you guys think?

Strictly speaking, they are too large.  You'll only need ~1ms pulse width to idle on petrol and you therefore have very little ability to tune the idle mixtures.  But it will work.  Idle may be slightly fluffy, or it could be perfect.

On E85 it would be easier.

But what you were told by others than your tuner is true.  They will work, and they will allow you to go E85 later very easily.

I shudder in horror at the thought of jacking up the fuel pressure to achieve 240 rwkW on factory injectors.

Run the 1000ccs, technology has already advanced so far over the last 10 years, they'll be fine
Upping fuel pressure with stock injectors will only lift the headroom by so much over the 200rwkw, works fine but stresses your fuel pump and affects injector lag time anyway

My main concern is, will the car run perfectly on the 1000cc injectors? i dont want it to not idle well or run just "fine".
I will speak to the tuner later today about it, but its looking like i will just cancel and wait a bit longer.
it definitely did not seem right to just up the fuel pressure on the stock injectors. The thing is the tuner is very reputable among the skyline and silvia community and i have heard nothing but good things about him.

If your tuner is smart, and say in the event those milled X-Spurts (I don't have experience tuning them) don't idle well on 98RON, you can drop the fuel pressure to say 2.5bar with the vac hose off on idle (then connect it back once you've finished setting the FPR).

This means now you can run higher pulsewidths and have the correct amount of fuel injected to maintain the idle and AFR of your choosing and you have plenty of headroom for the future.

I've got 1000cc IDs....no issues on idle.  I'm pretty sure there about about 1,000 others on here who'll tell you the same.

Keep the IDs, get a new tuner.

Trent is good, he will sort it out. Seen several maps most of which are very good.

Seen big tuning shops in Sydney with tunes that could be done by a 2 year old holding the number 8 key.

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.   
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.

    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
