Good sports automatic gearbox for my R33 GTST.

Hi everyone, just looking at gettting some ideas for a solid sports automatic gearbox for my R33 GTST Series 1 sedan. I like the idea of an auto as its my day to day/ family car that I want to still have some fun with. Any help ideas and points in the right direction will be greatly appreciated :12_slight_smile:

If you have a manual sell it and buy an auto. There are probably lots of Skyline owners who would like to trade their autos for your manual. If you have an auto already the stock box is perfectly adequate and if it is tired you can get it recond and beefed up a little.

Thanks KiwiRS4T, I already have an auto, but the stock 3 speed for the 94 is just not quite cutting it, so looking at changing it out maybe for something a bit more responsive. Any ideas? Thanks for the advice though.

Not without spending a fortune. A shift kit will transform it but still 500ish unless you do the work yourself.

Thanks for the idea, would you recommend anything particular? An auto mod car is new to me so just getting ideas... previously only had manuals but after my sports auto chaser I've found a new love for the ease of city driving in a auto :)

Mike at MV Automatics sends shift kits all around the world. Didn't realise your car was only 3 speed...thought it would be at least 4 speed. Contact Mike and see what he can do for you:

I used a transgo kit with some custom tweaks to it. Kit was only $85 bucks, plus fluid and gaskets cost. There is a thread on it here in the transmission section. You're not in Brisbane by any chance? We might be able to do a trade...

was thinking, your manual box and gear for my shift-kitted auto, if you're looking to swap to an auto already upgraded.

I would love to mate cause it would save me doing it but I have an auto. I was just looking for ideas on how to go about upgrading it. Thanks for the offer though ☺

Ahaha lol i misread it. Well i have a spare valve body here suitable for rebuild that we could build up for your car.

    • Yep, the closest base tune available was for the GTT, I went with that and made all the logical changes I could find to convert it to Naturally Aspirated. It will rev fine in Neutral to redline but it will be cutting nearly 50% fuel the whole way.  If I let it tune the fuel map to start with that much less fuel it wont run right and has a hard time applying corrections.  These 50% cuts are with a fuel map already about half of what the GTT tune had.  I was having a whole lot of bogging when applying any throttle but seem to have fixed that for no load situations with very aggressive transient throttle settings. I made the corrections to my injectors with data I found for them online, FBCJC100 flowing 306cc.  I'll have to look to see if I can find the Cam section. I have the Bosch 4.9 from Haltech. My manifold pressure when watching it live is always in -5.9 psi/inHg
    • Hi My Tokico BM50 Brake master cylinder has a leak from the hole between the two outlets (M10x1) for brake pipes, I have attached a photo. Can anyone tell me what that hole is and what has failed to allow brake fluid to escape from it, I have looked on line and asked questions on UK forums but can not find the answer, if anyone can enlighten me I would be most grateful.
    • It will be a software setting. I don't believe many on here ever used AEM. And they're now a discontinued product, that's really hard to find any easy answers on. If it were Link or Haltech, someone would be able to just send you a ECU file though.
    • Yes sir am asking is there possible way from aem tuner from wiring pins
    • Have you checked cam to crank timing and confirmed balancer marks are correct?
