Minimum requirement for a street car for me now.

I won't be holding onto this much longer hopefully it's going up for sale at rockynats. The 370 does everything this can do so much better I think.

WOOOO, so tempting 🙄

Absolutely. No AC is a young mans game for 1.5hp gainz

Yeah no point taking it out unless a you are going to have a crack at winning a state level event in a purpose built race car.

How do you go with cooling of the RB with no clutch fan?

Fancy Thermo fan setup?

Wouldn't mind a mild RB25 in mine one day but scared of cooling issues and weight balance.

Will not consider SR because they are faggotry.

Don't you hate it when people bring back quotes from years ago @ActionDan 🤣

To quote Brian O'Conner - "A lot has changed..."

Mainly by discovery of fully hektik VVL head options and watching a lot of RB Silvia's at track days and not loving what I was seeing.

Also, get fugged :D

Slowly, he's been having some personal issues that have slowed down his builds. Last I checked he had done one of the chambers I think.

I haven't been pushing him as I've had my hands full anyway and the engine being here will make me have to think about wtf I do with it.

Nah stopped looking, working on shed, roofing project for the house, and various other projects.

Shed electrical supplies should be here today I think, plumbing supplies are there, trenching done, power from old shed to new completed shortly by my elec then I'll take it from there.

Got the Aircon lines in with new o-rings and drier, just need to wire the plug to compressor and gas it up. Booked a few hours of dyno hire Tuesday so be good to have it running and ready for street driving again.

Took the 370z out to first event at new driveIT facility. Went pretty good and fastest car on street tyres. It goes pretty well but definitely need decent tyres to catch the faster guys. Overall impressed for a stock car and surprised a few people but if I was tracking it often a manual would be a lot better.

So....... Dyno didn't go as planned. Didn't make power it should have. Looks like having fuel pressure and trigger issue. Also forgot to turn off vtc so which caused a few small problems that I didn't realise until I talked with a mate.

Going to order trigger kit and upgrade fuel reg before heading to rockynats as would be good to make decent power again.

Beauty!

All my issues went away when I went to the cam trigger kit by NZ Wiring.

Good to hear been wanting one for a while but never had problems with the old ecu setup.

Was bored so fitted Ac belt and new tensioner so just need to add some gas.

And........ Pulled plugs and compression check. Plugs good, comp meh (used 2 gauges) also thought I fixed an oil leak from cam cover but looks to be coming from between the head and block

That's pretty damn good if I'm being honest.

It's down from the last one I remember from years ago. Wouldn't mind doing a leak down test too if I can borrow one.

Ordered trigger kit and will be installing new fuel pump and reg tonight. Just going to do these and see how it goes.

    • You will now be able to lift the parcel shelf trim enough to get to the shock cover bolts; if you need to full remove the parcel shelf trim for some reason you also remove the escutcheons around the rear seat release and you will have to unplug the high stop light wiring from the boot. Next up is removal of the bracket; 6 nuts and a bolt Good news, you've finally got to the strut top! Remove the dust cover and the 3 shock mount nuts (perhaps leave 1 on lightly for now....) Same on the other side, but easier now you've done it all before
    • OK, so a bunch of trim needs to come off to get to the rear shock top mounts. Once the seat is out of the way, the plastic trim needs to come off. Remove 2 clips at the top then slide the trim towards the centre of the car to clear the lower clip Next you need to be able to lift the parcel shelf, which means you need to remove the mid dark trim around the door, and then the upper light trim above the parcel shelf. The mid trim has a clip in the middle to remove first, then lift the lowest trim off the top of the mid trim (unclips). At the top there is a hidden clip on the inner side to release first by pulling inwards, then the main clip releases by pulling the top towards the front of the car. The door seal comes off with the trim, just put them aside. The the lighter upper trim, this is easy to break to top clips so take it carefully. There is a hidden clip towards the bottom and another in the middle to release first by pulling inwards. Once they are out, there are 3 clips along the rear windscreen side of the panel that are hard to get under. This is what the rear of the panel looks like to assist:
    • Yes. Autos typically work from the speed sensor on the pinion shaft of the diff. I also think that even if you have a proper speed sensor for the bog manual in the manual box, that the signal it outputs is not compatible with the auto dash anyway. You should consult that manual (the book, not the gearbox).
    • And I just realised that that advice is slightly nonsensical for a GTR, because you need 2 of them. But it is otherwise true.
    • Having had a reasonable look at the car, I'll be able to remove the (one time) rams and retract the hinge (they are held in the down location by a tiny (m3?) sacrificial screw) which will get it physically back in shape. From there if you remove the rams you need a resistor to turn off the airbag light (as Mark said, there are plug in kits and I might go that way because its reversible). And...per all the threads on here, even if you have the resistors to turn off the airbag light, the bonnet light will stay on as it writes to the airbag computer history - that is either replace the airbag controller, reprogam the EPROM (if I can work out how), or remove the globe from the dash. Having seen how sensitive this system is, if I had my time over I'd pre-emptively remove the rams, even on a road car, because this is all a very unnecessary pain in the arse. Reminds me, time to go and have a look at the Fuga too....
