Hi guys,

I've successfully paired my iPhone 6S to my 2007 V36 Skyline.

It's worked well for years, although every now and then I wipe/reinstall iOS on my phone and have to do the painful pairing procedure again.

It's paired, but problem is it keeps randomly disconnecting.  In the past I solved this by doing a fresh iOS install on my phone and pairing it again, but this time the problem persists.  I haven't noticed any pattern as to why it drops out, and I have to keep reconnected it by switching to radio then back to 'disc' (bluetooth) again.  It's really annoying when I'm going on a long drive, it can happen as much as every 3-5 minutes or so.

Any idea why this happens and how to fix it?

Thanks!

Hi. I can't offer you any joy but say that the bluetooth phone connection has always been dodgy with my iPhone 7 in my 2013 Skyline Cross-over. Further, the music tags reported on the console screen never displayed correctly either. Only way I could get everything working properly was to directly attach the phone via a USB cable - then all good.

But I don't know if your 2007 V36 offers a USB port. My 2015 coupe didn't.

Hi guys, just wondering if anyone had any luck fixing this issue? Im having the same issue on my 2009 Skyline Crossover, maybe not as severe as some though. Mine drops out, and reconnects by itself around once every 10 mins, although sometimes my music will start to stutter for a minute straight, but this is rare. Still yet to try a non iphone though.

Edit: also have the issue that the screen will show whats playing once it connects, then the screen freezes and doesn't update, and eventually goes blank even though something is still playing.

I lived with it for a long time, but have recently fixed it.

All I did was unpair and re-pair the phone again and my issues went away.  It does work slightly different now, I'm only using the audio streaming (Spotify, YouTube, Podcasts, etc) but not bluetooth for calls (I just use the iPhone speaker for that).

Seems to work much better just like this.

Hmmm maybe I should give that a try, I seem to remember there was a setting for audio and phone separately, is that correct?

For the moment I gave in and started using a USB cord instead, which of course works really well but I run into the problem that theres a warning message over the top of the info area on the screen that says something about no audio files found. Which is clearly wrong as its displaying whats playing on the screen behind it haha.

Yes, there are two settings - don't ask me where they are though!  I use a translator app on my phone.  Phone via speaker seems fine really.  It may actually work again via the car audio but I haven't tested it.  Overall it works better like this, i.e. when I used to use Siri it would pause and flick over to the car's audio and was clunky, but just for music it's a smoother experience.

Yo if anyone is still looking into this. This pops up when it happens for me. I think it's to do with carvings attempting to connect to the radio towers in Japan and failing.

I set a setting to only connect when the car starts.

Go to carwings

Option 1 (information channel setting)

Option 1 (automatic time setting)

Option 3 (when engine starts)

Doesn't do it anymore and it was doing it every 5minutes (what the previous setting was to talk to radio towers.)

Happy uninterrupted Bluetooth Y'all!!

Hi mate, can you explain a bit further on how you get to these options etc?

Thanks

Yeah I get that, but I’ve never seen those options come up. That’s what I was looking for clarification on.

    • This looks great! Awesome to have the 5 speed with an LSD in this. The Recaro's look like SR2's or SR3's. It's a shame they've been retrimmed as they would have looked sweet in their original colours. I think I'd want my agent to be a little more up front and informative too. I've never imported but I reckon it would make me a little nervous, so the more info the better.
    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
