RB20 Positive Crankcase Hose Question

Recommended Posts

Hello

I've been going through replacing all the dry-rotted rubber pieces on my GTST. I got to the positive crankcase hose (11826-04U10) and noticed that the old one had what looked like a piece of pipe cleaner and some type of brass ring with a hole in the center jammed in at either end of the hose.

Anyone know why this was done?

That is someone's bodgy attempt at separating oil from the blowby. It's not normal.

You think running the new hose without anything in it is ok? Obviously that's how it's supposed to be stock, but why do that in the first place? What are the signs that oil is getting into the blowby?

I wouldn't have thought the pipe cleaner was doing anything useful. Pull it out and see how much oil is attached to it
