Team.

Going in for a removal of my HKS F-con ProV in favour of a new Link g4+.

New crank and cam trigger setup by ross with 12T balancer as well

My -5 turbos and forged engine stay as is but my fuel system is getting an upgrade.

Going single Walbro big 460LPH E85 pump up from my Nismo 260 or whatever

Also going in is a -8 feed and -6 return to a Aeromotive A1000 Gen2 FPR and new twin entry fuel rail.

So my question 1 is.

My injector supplier in NZ has said to go ID 1050x's as that will flow up to 1200hp on 98 but im worried with E85 I might run out of fuel.  His calculations reckon at 7000rpm the injectors will be at 80% on E85.  Obviously the 1050x's are way cheaper than the 1350x's but I really dont want to have fuel issues and regret tuning again on 1050x's so what do people reckon?

2nd question is.

With the dual entry rail do I just run a Y splitter from the feed line into the fuel rail will this be fine on that 1 pump?  Obviously not looking for game changing power with -5's.

I suspect that thinking 1050s can do 1200 engine HP is probably pushing them right to their ragged limits. Assume 1HP per injector cc on a 6 cylinder for a safer bet. Maybe you can make more than 1100HP without exceeding sensible injector duties....depending on AFRs etc.

So, the real question is, how much power can you even make on -5s? ~600 on 98. A bit more with E85? Say 700? That's a steep enough discount from the ~1100 HP you could flow through the injectors on 98, to think that they should have the capacity to do it on E85, I would think. I'm with your injector supplier.

Y splitter will be fine. Just try to keep the line lengths fairly similar after the splitter, just to eliminate any bias.

If a new return is going in, better off doing it in -8. Better all around of you are running that pump flat out. Cooler fuel, less pressure drop on return and nicer on your pump. Win, win.

Why not go the Bosch 980cc 3bar / 1100cc 4bar EV14 injectors over the ID1050X ? Cheaper again for the same base injector type. The ID will flow a little bit more ( maybe 5% - 7% ?), but will be a least 50% more expensive. Don't get me wrong, I just dunno if I could justify the price of IDs with -5 turbos if it were me. I'm sure they will flow enough for you.

ID1050x is nothing to write home about if you aren't running some crazy low voltage from a weak alternator/battery on the injectors or super high fuel pressure. The spray pattern is a narrow 5 degree cone, right into the intake valve divider in the head.

I would get the Bosch 040 ~980cc injectors. Run ~3.5-4 bar of fuel pressure and you should be fine. 30 degree cone works better than the 5 degree cone, most of it will go towards the intake valves instead. Make sure to get them properly matched or tuning will be a pain.

    • Wife wanted basket things in the wardrobe in our temporary house. Thought about ripping our the wardrobe and fitting the entire IKEA set, but it's a temporary house and we want to move in a few years. So IKEA advertises this as a 50cm unit, however the actually basket and rails measure 46cm wide. Only issue was depth, IKEA stuff is quite deep, where as the builder special junk is super shallow at less than 40cm. Send it, chopped the rails, then offset the mounting holes, job done, happy wife, less shit scattered all over the bedroom. Did the same to the other side too. Also drove the Skyline shit box today, dropped off oil at Supercheap Auto. I didn't realise they only now take max 2x bottles per visit. I visited 2x Supercheap Autos.  
    • I've seen similar actually in my situation. You never know what tables are attempted to be used when the car thinks it's -99C or +200C. The fail state is not usually that extreme but you know what I mean - it was in my case though! This is where being able to read all the sensors is useful cause you see this stuff really quickly.
    • The above is very important. However as long as you keep timing relatively low, it's plausible to make your own knock ears and plausible to learn to tune with a modern ECU that can do wideband O2 correction like a boost controller. I mean if you only have one viable road to even drive the car on, learning to tinker to this level may be worth doing given you can't do much else with the car...?
    • I find the fact that the rear plate has to be bent inwards at the rear not so bad: but the front is just awful: It's like come on. (these are my very old, now retired/turned in plates) TBH it is a lot of money to fix a minor issue, the fact I said "I'll never really spend the money on doing this" is why people ended up buying them as a gift for a 'car guy' who can be hard to shop for.. for car guy things.
    • I just bent the ends of my premo plates. It even went through Regency like that after the engine conversion and the inspector (a great bloke!) just squinted his eyes and said "I didn't see that". Plates, and how they look, are just something that have zero importance to me.
