Wow. Pissy much? You on a mission to find old posts to argue with, or is this legitimately just because you're 5 years into a 1 day job?

Got my R34 gearbox around 4-5 weeks ago. Came into some extra $$ recently and after I cleaned the mess off the notes, I thought, might as well buy that R34 box I've been pondering.  In that time I've pulled the engine out, replaced rod and mains bearings, done a few other engine things that are much easier with the engina out eg PRP oil pump upgrade, replacing wastegate coolant lines, installing Turbosmartass turbo oil pressure reg, made some mounting brackets for some of my mods that are "hard to reach", converted the R34 box to R33, put the engine and new gearbox back in the car. Plus cleaning ...Oh my god so much cleaning when doing such a project. Yep I'm a busy bee, buzz buzz. As part of the gearbox project, researched posts and found this thread (In which i nailed it for the OP), hence the post here # logical thinking.. Not all about you old boy, SOrrryyy.

Dare I ask,  how's yours going ,> Or you got it done yet, and if so why didn't you post any of the tips I posted to help other members? ???

That was a long winded way to say yes....

Waiting for a queue of Supras to get out of the way. Then the same conversion work to the box which was probably bought about the same day as you bought yours, by the sound of it. And hopefuly with enough Supras out of the way we'll finally get to do the box into the car along with the injectors and AFM so that the last 18 months of driving a highflow nearly NA can finally come to an end.

Fuel use with a LS is about the same as a RB. Slightly better than a modified RB with a responsive turbo. :p

You'd need another excuse to not go LS (there is no excuse to not go LS)

We're not talking about one of those little girl LS's like yours. We're talking the big boy. LS7.

You sweet summer child, if only you knew the intricacies of the world of LS you would come around to the lego construction of them and truly praise the LS1, the greatest of all.

This of course depends on your use case. That said, LS7 is actually down towards the bottom of the list. The amount of info on the subject puts SAU's 20 year knowledgebase on RB's and R chassis to shame.

Yeah, no... Kinky is right, LS would be the same, possibly better. That's even with LS7.

The right gearing, good tune, free flowing inlet and exhaust. Good fuel usage :)

Right. So a workshop is doing it for you. Good stuff. Out.

Wait..."hopefully" has 2 L's.

All the jibing aside...just waiting for a new clutch throwabout bearing to arrive then will finish the install, interested to see what the driveability is like. I say this in all sincerity, good luck with yours, hope it goes smoothly.

You seem to post alot of helpful info to members overall, I have no issue with you. Enjoy your night.

Brother-in-law's workshop. And I'll be doing. Family doesn't get priority over long running customer jobs.

It wouldn't normally take so long to get to a task of mine, but there was a series of unfortunate events involving the dyno (blowing it up) that caused a serious backlog in the normal workload, that has toaken literally forever to get out from underneath.

I can't do, or more to the point, choose not to do, jobs at home that require tools I don't have or would leave me without my daily if something goes wrong that thwarts me. Gearbox out on the floor with chassis stands is not palatable when I can use a hoist at the shop. But I've only had the box for a few weeks. It's the injectors and AFM that have been waiting on access to the dyno.

All the best with it mate. Hopefully no dramas. I found quite a few issues when i pulled mine out eg fkt trans and engine mounts, throwout bearing, i had not been aware of, so 'any car maint' can be worthwhile it seems.

    • I read this and thought "ah! I will do this scissor jack on the tow point thing!" I just use my floor/low profile/costco jack and lift the car up by the tow hook itself, then slide jack stands under. Never thought about using scissor into floor jack combo :p
    • Well, my new WMI system took much longer to finalize. I actually missed my dyno appointment last Friday and lost my 150$ deposit. I'll be going back in the next week or two.  To sum it up. I only kept the AEM tank from my old setup. I replaced the AEM pump with a higher flow/pressure ProMeth 30GPH pump. I also swapped over to a 6AN low pressure feed line to the pump from the tank. There's also a pressure switch you cannot see on the pump high pressure line.    This is feeding 6x 200CC direct port nozzles and 1x 500CC Pre Throttle body nozzle. All fittings are Swagelok, because well why not. I also have a 300PSI pressure sensor up front.    I now have my Haltech ECU controlling everything. I start my pump with a basic relay at 5PSI and deadhead it. I then PWM a 3000CC methanol Injector to control flow starting around 10psi. The pressure switch in the trunk, along with my tank level are safeties before I ever get to 10PSI, and then I use my pressure sensor upfront as a secondary safety to cut the WMI and corrections in case the injector blocks or a line ruptures.  Wish me luck on the dyno!
    • So, I'm back with bad news. There's no jack long enough on this planet that will reach the front subframe. If by some chance there is, it would weigh 200lb's.  I purchased a long reach jack... The damn thing weighted 120lb's and was massive. Didn't even come close, was still short at least a foot. It was a pain, but I brought it back. Next I decided HA! No problem, I'll get an Extra long reach jack. Well, I couldn't lift the box... It must have weighed 160LB's and luckily there was an open box in store. I took measurement and was still nowhere close.  Sadly I've lost hope and have accepted defeat.
    • Thanks for that tip, niZmO_Man. I think the battery is OK. It's quite a new one, but I'll check. Last time I needed a new battery, everything electronic was fine, except that there wasn't enough current to turn over the starter. I decided to order one of the partial AV system translation CDs from Car Audio Workshop in NZ. That might have some effect, or help me diagnose the date problem. 🤞
    • I suppose it was relatively stock too, the JZ motor handle most mods thrown at them without even breaking a sweat
