Hey all, I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this. I've been a lurker of this forum and a fan of GTR's for a few years now. I've just recently become financially able to afford one. I am not very good with cars in general but I have massed little knowledge over time. I'm based in NSW and there's one in Victoria that I'm potentially up for buying. The seller has uploaded many photos and provided details. I was wondering if I uploaded these photos and details to this post, that you guys could chime in with any thoughts before I make the trek to Victoria. I have read the thread " New To The Skyline Scene?" But I just want to see what you esteemed members think about this import.

Thanks all. VIN number is BNR32-012590.

Also I'd like to use https://japancarhistorycheck.com/ to check the auction history - but what is the best way to verify that the VIN provided by the seller actually matches the car he is selling? I'm aware vin stickers can be forged. Would using that website to check the japanese history help verify the car that's for sale will match the VIN that's provided?

  • 2 weeks later...

if i was looking for another r32 i would look no further than this one. chances are thats an extremely good condition car. thats alot of coin it should be damn near mint for that price with a perfect frame. i would say if you could get the frame(standard 4 spots on frame where dints usually occur from improper jacking), rust behind all the wheel arcs, open the gas cap see what rust is occuring in there, and a nice photo of the trunk popped with pictures of the perimeter along the waether stripping and under the spare tire where water can accumulate and cause premature rust. cheers chap car does look extremely clean in my eyes. i paid 27k for mine in the same shape as that grey one(maybe better mine had zero rust) in 2019 so not that long ago. i just kept watching as economy was low here, so i dunno about the 85k mate thats steap for a r32 that will be quite slow after you drive it a couple times and want more power.

I’m in Melbourne. There are a few guys that are in the know. JMA Airport West are GTR specialists. To pay him $200 to have a look at it which will take him 10 mins might be worth it.

1200buck hourly rate sounds about right for a gtr

    • Sorry to hear your HFM BM57 was faulty,  did you contact HFM I would hope they would be at least grateful for the information if there was some sort of manufacturing fault, you would hope they would be sympathetic even if your item was 2 years old if it had never been fitted. May I ask where it leaked from ?
    • Cats are called Bella, and Donna...  Like that poisonous plant And I remember your 2 monsters, I remember making a little bit of wee when you let them out... LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
    • Not to mention they drive like a bucket of bolts! yuck!
