Hey firends,

I know theres been a bunch of posts on this before, but all are slightly different problems then mine so I thought I'd ask again.

My climate control was working perfectly earlier this year, blowing nice cold or hot air as desired. The LEDs and display worked fine as well.

Then suddenly my clock on the display just started counting up minutes very fast, as if the minute adjustment button was held down. Because the clock was constantly being adjusted none of the A/C controls worked either. I thought it might be stuck down or making bad contact so I took apart the module, nothing looked out of the ordinary, I even plugged it back in while still apart to make sure no buttons were touching but the clock still went up.

A week later my clock decides to chill out and no longer counts up, which brings me to my current problem I need help with: the clmate control module is completely unresponsive. The led backlights still work and clock still displays, but none of the buttons do anything. Can't turn on the A/C and also can't change the time. It's just completely unresponsive.

If anyone knows a way to fix it or how to troubleshoot some potential problems that would be much appreciated, would rather not go straight to shop and fork out cash.

I have an M35 stagea with similar issue.  bought it like this.  I suspect mine may be to do with installation of aftermarket stereo.  I have another m35 which works fine except the reverse camera and nav screen doesnt work.  I was told that putting after market stereos make the screen off due to plugs not all compatable. SO I will pull out both stereos and and have a look.  DId any of you have any luck?

i had an almost identical issue to whats described.

managed to get lucky and pick up a second hand unit relatively cheap.

after installation of the new unit, i went back and had a good look at old ac unit and noticed that the 3 main solder joins on the back were alll cracked and not making proper connection, didnt bother to test the theory, but its somthing to look into.

i also had the same issue with the boost sensor in the engine bay. the one  leading to the centre gauge.

solder was cracked leading to poor connection, chucked an iron on it and - good as new.

I have done a little of this with my gf's civic type R where they have some bad solder joins on the main display thingy those cars have.

This issue is popping up more and more frequently from people on FB with R34's with the whole minute thing going nuts, so it would be well worth investigating next time someone has this issue. I haven't had this issue. but I am mentally preparing for that day when it comes...

a lot of the "old school" as in pre-milleninal soldering would be fixable as they're relatively easy to see (the tracks, joints).

I would recommend re-flowing all the joints just for the hell of it, as most likely a dodgy joint might be the issue.

Otherwise, replacing the newer units' components may be difficult.

    • Hi all, Restoring r33 series 1 rb25det. All the heater hoses were on their way out, have replaced them and put it all back together. After testing I noticed a small leak from behind the head on the actual metal water line to the turbo when cars warm. I tried running a longer hose over it but it kept leaking...   I am about to take the (stock) manifold off again😔 to change the water line does any one have any lines they recommend? I was looking at Aeroflow Turbo Oil & Water Line Set but not sure what everyone else recommends. Car is completely stock but want to upgrade turbo eventually. it looks like ill have to disconnect a lot just to replace these lines so if there's anything else recommended to do please let me know. Thank you in advance!
    • From memory, on the R33 GTSt at least, while everyone says "It's not adjustable", I found when I changed clutches in mine, it just needed a small adjustment on the rod length. But be very wary here, as you could end up trying to push the pushrod in the master too far, or blowing out the slave.   Most likely though, if the master/slave isn't bypassing internally or leaking out, then the throw out is the wrong height compared to the fingers on the clutch, so when it moves to disengage the clutch, it isn't 100% disengaged. You can check part of this out too by jacking the car up, having the engine running, put your foot on the clutch and try to engage 1st gear. If it goes in pretty easy (Compared to the ground) and/or the wheels start turning a fair bit and it takes a bit too much brake pedal to bring them back to a stop, this is likely the issue.  I'm not sure if you can adjust the height of the forks etc in these though, it's been that long since I've touched any RB gearbox.
    • That's all good, I thought I was missing some interesting feature! Maybe @PranK can double check if that is something that is meant to be operating or not.
    • I hope that is not something that bad. From what i remember he said that only first gear is "hard" to get in and that he has couple of ideas what to try next but idk 😕  hope it is not gearbox out. I will let you know.
    • If it's not the hydraulics, it is probably gearbox back out. Usually as per @Duncan's post, or otherwise associated with not getting the throwout fork positioned correctly. All the way up to catastrophically bolting shit back together without it being aligned properly and wrecking the clutch/input shaft/flywheel/something else.
