Had this this for about 15 months now.
So much it being a "quick and easy" build.
I bought this thinking I could clean it up relatively easily, get an ID check and happy days.
Man was I wrong (but we will get to that point later.
As pics go, this is how I got it.

First thing i had to do was to get rid of the gokart steering wheel, not sure what the go was there.
Also managed to find a sedan rear bar relatively cheap, thanks to Zac. (RB30DET, SA).
Next was sussing some of the "custom wiring" as I was relatively new to Nissans (last one I owned was an N15 SSS about 8 years ago). Nothing on the dash worked except Fuel and Speed so I was assuming all the data came from the ECU. Didn't get anywhere, future me problem.

Managed to find some cheap wheels, and get them delivered from Whyalla for $200. I couldnt deal with the 19"G2 wheels any longer lol. I found out once I got them, they didnt fit due to bore. Listed them up for sale for $400, gone the next day. I assumed they were 4x100 / 4x114.3, turns out they were 4x110 / 4x114.3. Didn't even know that was a thing.

In an attempt to get rid of the disgusting "gauge mount", I found that you can actually run a consult cable > android tablet, and run an app called NDS. I was pretty surprised considering it is a 30 year old car. Shows data as well as Diag codes which came in handy later. Using a recycled tablet mount from my work, I rigged this up. Currently I didnt have a dock power cable so I had to recharge this everytime I used it.

Fast forward a month, I had purchased a 5 stud kit, R33 GTR brakes, braided lines, and R33 stockies.
Booked in a time at Dan Holland's workshop and we went through and chucked it all on. Also gave the engine a basic fluid service, as well as removed all signs of HICAS (not a delete, physically removed all of it and blocked off all ports).

If anyone needs any work done in Adelaide, especially on diffs. Contact Dan @ The Crown and Pinion

Much better.

Had a few issues with idling and the tune it came with.
Took it over to Adam at Jaustech.
Updated the Nistune, made some adjustments.
Now idles fine, and also making 235rwkw.

Sort myself a list of shit I needed to pass for a RWC, and got cracking.

Started by cleaning the bay up. Removed the oil breather, and fitted stock looking covers on. Also painted piping black as we all know SAPOL/Regency love finding shiny things.

Wanted to get rid of the shitty piping set up that came on the car.
However I could not use the standard RB intake piping because the TD05 has a 3" inlet.
Took a trip to upullit, found a saab turbo inlet pipe and a 3.8L ecotec bend.
Chucked it all in, bolted up. Looks the goods for now.

Managed to find a center vent and steering wheel for free,
Starting to look half decent inside.

Spent way too much time trying to diagnose what the wiring for the horn was, and why it wasnt working once I found the correct wire.
Ended up mounting a spare horn I found in the shed, made a new wire from the relay straight to the horn. Test and works. Happy days.

Few more months. Not going to lie the whole "Easy rego" i had planned that didnt work had me a little disheartened for a while. Needed to continue, went back to dans and fitted my new diff.
R200 LSD 4.11 out of a C34.
Driveshafts out of a R33 GTSt.
Like a glove. R180 open wheeler went in the bin.

Continuing on prepping my butthole for a full RWC, I found a full stock exhaust with a cat for $100, as well as painted the lock bar in hope it would go unnoticed. Also did both rear wheel bearings as one was absolutely shot.

Also figured out the diff knocking wasnt my issue, it was the tailshaft centerbearing.
Bought one from Hardys and got it fitted and balanced at ATS (now also owned by Hardys)

No more knocking.

November 22.
Painter rings me and says he needs to re-make the whole quarter panel as its full of JB weld and bog. Great.
Managed to find a shell that's been sitting for 10 years, also non complied so I dont feel bad about cutting it up.

    • You’ll be very upset when you bust that too not to mention the gearing totally sucks. Don’t do it.
    • Is the panel filter one that is oiled? Have you ever cleaned or touched the AFM?
    • So.... the K&N air box thingo was too big, ended up gifting it to a mate, well, by gifting it he actually supplied food and beer at the pub,  which was nice, as it will not sit on a shelf in the garage for the next 10 years I did trim up some of the existing stuff to neaten it all up and gave it some wrinkle paint, unfortunately it currently has a used and abused mish mash of different types of hose clamps, 4 big fat T bolt type (shit), and a few normal clamps of vairing sizes and brands, but..... only until the 6 constant tension black worm clamps that I ordered from EFI solutions turn up next week Currently the current hose clamps are triggering me hard, LOL Is this the final version, probably not, I really want just 2 silicone pieces, a straight bit of silicone from the filter to the MAF is easy and will happen as soon as I head into Just Jap tomorrow, the problematic part is a 30° silicone bend from the MAF to the TB that I can connect the engine breather from the head, I found that there are bulk head fittings for boat bilge pumps that should work, but until I can get a 30° silicone bend the alloy pipe, and the 11ty thousand hose clamps, are there for the foreseeable future 4 hose clamps are golden, 6 are grudgingly acceptable, the 8 currently holding it all together is just taking the piss    I've also ordered 60 more retaining wall blocks for the front yard, I mis-gonculated the height that was required to get above the base of the Photinia's (red robin's) that are the hedge behind the front fence, currently it is 2 blocks high, and about 1/2 a block short, so going 3 blocks high will be above the base of the red robin's, and allow some room for mulch
    • It is the stock air box with the panel filter. Everything else is stock except the exhaust at this point, as I also went back to the cleaned 270cc injectors. I will check the RPM when the IACV is unplugged and report back.
    • As MBS suggested if this is happening when the engine is cold you're going to want to remove the intake air regulator and verify resistance + that the shutter is physically opening and closing. At -20C should be fully open, 20C half open, over 60C fully closed. At 20C should be 70-80 ohms. For AAC valve testing using a Consult cable see if you can raise and lower the idle by commanding more or less AAC duty cycle. Hopefully it's pretty linear as well, shouldn't be like 30% AAC valve is barely idling and 40% is 1500 rpm.
