1:53.837. ya happy now?

beast mode! 1mil credits for your efforts sir.

BTW I still have a G29/290 or whatever the updated version of the wheel is sitting in the corner, too lazy to set it up.
BUT, the wheel does give you way more precise control, and after a couple of hours on it, your lap times will drop.

This is why I use it. I simply can't get partial steering inputs with the controller let alone throttle/brake inputs. Its just not a fun game for me at all with a controller.

I've been playing a bit of ACC lately which is another beast entirely.

GT7 has an option to use the controller itself like a wheel (i.e tilting it to turn).

I have a wheel (an old G25) which I upgraded with Load Cell pedals as a mod. I can't use a controller to save my life and am convinced all sticks are a joke and consoles are toys. People love them, and they and DD wheels are what you 'need' if you want to close that remaining 0.5% of laptime to the professionals consistently. They just communicate more and you need this to be able to differentiate being 4% brake pedal force while trail braking or bleeding from 4%, to 3%, to 2%, as you feed in steering, or if you are comparing telemetry and notice you come off the brake too fast, where "too fast" is percentages of a percent across a timeframe of 0.1 seconds in one braking zone, for example.

Having a really heavy LC pedal means your LEG input is 'less sensitive' which means it's easier to be more precise, as far as the sim is concerned. Similar to being more precise in shooters with lower mouse sensitivity. Your "Error" in your hands and feet translates to less "error" in the game.

Anyway my mate was very sad when I realised I could tilt the controller to approximate a wheel and use throttle and braking on the sticks, and then it was he who was tilted :D

Yeah but I found that using the controller wheel tilt thing was just as bad as the stick in terms of graduating inputs. I need that force feedback.

I'm super keen to get some LC pedals. I'm not about setting up some crazy rig, my setup now is very budget but even at this level I'm enjoying it so much more. The new Thrustmaster (could be the worst company name in history) entry level LC pedals come in around $350 I think which is doable.

Pedal control is my 100% focus for improvement in GT7 and ACC. When you get it right (or at least not wrong) there are significant gains to be had.

Awesome, I'll give it a try, I need the money haha.

Honestly, as someone on the standard PS4 controller, should be relatively easy to get gold. Remember you have more grip than you think.

Yeah I'm just on a controller as well, I've got a few golds but mostly silver or bronze, usually depends how far off the silver I am whether I keep going after getting bronze.

I've only got Silver until that Deep Forest gr.4 Lancer one, nice work mate! I can never get gold as i'm like 2 secs off the time, always

I haven't done any of these for ages, I've been on ACC. I'll give it a go. No chance of gold for me though.

C'mon prank, pump those laps in (on PS controller) for deep forest gr.4 Lancer, you got this!

Bit late to the convo but I got deep into the silver time in the Gr.4 Lancer at Deep Forest, with 3 tenths quicker lap to get gold, but had family visit us and that was that.

Currently the Red Bull X2010 at Grand Valley and waaaaay off the silver time. Using a Thrustmaster T150 pro. It's seems really inconsistent one track from another how competitive you can be (or not be). Maybe I'm just not driving accurately enough through some corners where I could pick up, what, 3 seconds(?!) somewhere.... that just seems unrealistic though. Wheelspin out of slower corners is very sensitive in that car.

I got it down to within 5 tenths of the silver time at Grand Valley in the X2010 but struggling to improve on that. Have put it aside for now. Got well into silver in the Mazda Roadster NR-A at Suzuka east course and the Alfa 155 touring car at Watkins Glen short though

Jumped in to do the trial with the Alfa around Watkin's Glen. I think I was around 1.16 flat which was good enough for gold at the time. The MX5 trial is tricky, its so had to keep the speed up.

Two golds! Struggled to get silver on Gran Valley.

Noice one 👍

I've done a 1:16.300 at Watkins Glen, will keep at it. Still have to knock off half a second at Suzuka in the Roadster

Nice! I'll try to get into the gold with the MX5.

I suck badly with the uber fast cars, I wont even try the other one.

    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
    • Well they got my money but they are not getting my gearbox !
    • It's needed for rolling idle up, and I think it is a decider on VCT also.
    • I mean, not really. Link ECU's can absolutely still have errors from the ECU thinking it's getting a sensor it's not expecting. I would imagine the speed at the ECU level in Nistune does absolutely nothing anyway? I assume the ECU does not do any fancy TC stuff with regards to front+rear wheel speed or anything of that like anyway. Someone who uses Nistune may be more fluent in it.
