The Bogan
43 minutes ago, MBS206 said: I assume clearances were all a-okay? Nope, needed to clearance under the bar a little with a heat gun, a 1/2" extension as the "clearancer", and big hammer, I was aware of this from the onset, they fit a 2.0 with this intake no problems, but, the 2.5 is around 15mm taller than a 2.0, so "clearancing" was required It "just" touched when test fitting, now, I have about 10mm of clearance You cannot see where it was done, and so far, there's no contact when giving it the beans Happy days 3 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/486007-nc-mx5/page/16/#findComment-8003922 Share on other sites
The Bogan
The final part arrived today to un-clampify and simplify the intake Who would have though a 1/2" hose stainless bulkhead fitting designed for below waterline bilge pumps would be what I needed Test fit on a 3" offcut I had laying around to see if it would work, and it worked a treat All going well the intake will be on its "final version" tomorrow 2 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/486007-nc-mx5/page/16/#findComment-8003938 Share on other sites
The Bogan
I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/486007-nc-mx5/page/16/#findComment-8003942 Share on other sites

Kinkstaah
The obvious answer here is get a ND2/3 RF with the Targa top. The red is nicer, too! Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/486007-nc-mx5/page/16/#findComment-8004076 Share on other sites

Nope, I don't like the look of ND RF, or any ND really, I don't like their faces or arses, why, because of their "modern" lines, the NC, whilst "modernish" has a more rounded shape that I like Well, that's how my overly judgemental eyes see it anyway Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/486007-nc-mx5/page/16/#findComment-8004101 Share on other sites

It's okay, I'm 100% picking up what you're putting down Mark. 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/486007-nc-mx5/page/16/#findComment-8004104 Share on other sites

He will obtain a ND. It's the best of both worlds. They look great in person, definitely the best looking one. Just a matter of time now. The Bogan
8 hours ago, r32-25t said: Remember this is the same person who said he’d never own an nc Yeap, all the NC's that I originally looked at that had a hard top were PRHT, which makes the roof line look horrible, hence why I said nope to them My only caveat for another MX5 was it needed to have a hard top, and initially I didn't think you could get a detachable hard top for the NC, like my NB had Again, a big thanks to Matty for helping me source the detachable hard top for my little girl, they are as rare as hens teeth in Australia, and the few people who have them, keep them Also to Greg, for initially pointing me in the NC direction NC PRHT 🤢🤮 Not mine (I really should take more photos of my car), but a NC with the detachable hard top 😁 To me, the difference in how the detachable hard top roof line looks, and how it actually follows the bodies lines, like they do on NA's and NB's, is chalk and cheese compared to the bulbous looking PRHT Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/486007-nc-mx5/page/16/#findComment-8004112 Share on other sites
Kinkstaah
I agree with you WRT the hard top. MX5's may be one of the better looking soft tops but I cannot think of ANY car, EVER that looks better with a soft top vs a hard top (or a designed roof). At all, ever. I also feel this way about the C5 Vette, the Z06 looks horrible compared to it's original form, it has an exaggerated version of the differences you're talking about.
