TBH, a cheaper / lower performing tyre like a Potenza RE003 does better in the rain than a RS-4 / Z232, probably due to the tread pattern design

I have the 2025 build re003s’ on my 06 XT Forester Turbo and I quite rate them for street wet and dry

If the forester is anything like our old 2007 GTB Liberty, I could near on run ling Long's and "rate them", as no matter what, it just hung to the road, even when abusing it in a hard launch in the wet, or throwing it at corners.

Ok, disregard my “rate them” comment, sorry for my unrealistic input

Update 4:

Hi all.

The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.
I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season.

Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this.

Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary.

I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.

I'm confused, are you saying you don't like these injectors?

They are too big for a near stock engine. The engine only has GT2860 turbos and adjustable cam gears, no way will I ever go above 500hp like this, if even that. For that a 700cc injector would be plenty.

You don't need to change from a stock intercooler for your power target, let alone change to another aftermarket one.  One less problem.

Re the injectors, it is unlikely to be a problem these days, modern injectors and ECUs can handle them accurately at low flow.

I have these injectors in my RB25, they have been fantastic to tune with. The engine idles like factory.

I'm confused why you say they are too big?

I already have an Apexi. Just wondering if it is worth putting in something new since the Apexi is likely well over 10 years old, if not 15.

I know the injectors work but they already run at less than rated fuel pressure to make them work properly and idle is basically 1% duty cycle or less. Could be better

Idle Lambda target is off by .4 but I reckon the VE table is not correct. If my tuner has no issue using these injectors I will keep them, they are good quality after all

If your tuner can't make the car idle like factory, I'd get a new tuner. These injectors are fantastic and I'd have very serious concerns about a tuners skill set if they couldn't get them to idle well.

Oh, probably worth mentioning as well, my mixtures are perfect at idle.

The tuner I'm going to is reputable and has a lot of experience tuning road cars as well as race engines. I doubt he'll have an issue with it. I slightly adjusted the idle and cruise AFR targets so they get closer to what they're supposed to be but I'll let the expert correct the tables as I am way too inexperienced.

What ECU are you running? This is probably the biggest question. If it's a PowerFC, I'd probably change the ECU and get something newer that will handle the injectors in a nicer way.

EMU Classic. For what I need it to do I see no reason to upgrade. Link and Haltech would both cost an extra chunk of money for a lot of unutilized features
