Looking for someone with a R34 front bar

Hi everyone,

I'm wondering if anyone in Melbourne (preferably West) has a non-S2 R34 front bar. If it's already off the car, even better! 

Nothing too weird, I just need to get a cut-out of the hole that the front indicators clip into 🤣 (image attached for reference)

 

I've got a front bar from JSAI Aero, but those holes need to be cut myself, and I want to get it right so the indicators will clip securely. And my OEM bumper is a S2, so I have no reference. So looking for a member who might be able to spare me a few minutes to make a cardboard cut-out using your front bar.

Surely, if you have the indicator in hand and a pair of verniers, you can measure it up and draw your own cut template? I mean, it's got to pretty clear what has to pass through the hole, what has to sit on the outside face of the hole, and what has to be able to pass through and perhaps clip into place on the back side.

hahahaa @GTSBoy that is my last resort. Like use a cardboard and cut it using the indicator as a reference.

But I was winging my luck to see anyone had a spare bumper because drawing the outline off the hole is always easier and less chance of mucking it up

I hate to be this guy, as I just sold my bumper.

But it's not as simple as merely a hole. It's actually quite contoured.

This is from a GTR, but yeah. It is not just a straight shape.

Are you talking about the hole at the back end that is just a hole (albeit one with some shape to it, as you perhaps say), or are you talking about the big strakes that run down the sides of the recess?

I mean the stuff on the side. It really depends on what the JSAI bar has - I'll make the assumption it has the strakes and that the end is just a flat piece.

In which case I still think my approach would be just as easy. In fact, easier, because of all that guidance on the front side.

I'd be using your approach if I had the light.

Some measuring, get some vernier calipers, measure, draw, make another one as a slightly smaller hole and start cutting.

So the JSAI bar does not have any lines on the inside of the "pod" either. And since I did not realise it had those - so thanks @Kinkstaah for raising that.
Some of those grooves look alarmingly deep, plus not going to be easy to copy over from a bar.

Take heart that everyone else seems to have found a way. The OEM S1 indicators do slot in pretty firmly. It may simply be a case of having them sit slightly looser and nobody actually ever noticed this when attempting to remove a indicator from a JSAI bar :p

fabricating accurately in 3 dimensional space is beyond me....I almost always end up making something more than once...sorry I mean I extensively use prototyping

Final update!!!

Got the front bar fitted and sprayed and all sorted now. My cutouts worked great and the indicators aren’t just falling off. 😂

That looks good, but I think you're going to need much beefier side skirts now.

hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
