Leaky Injector - symptoms?

did a search but didn't come up with anything...

1. what are the symptoms of a leaky injector?

2. do they get less noticeable as the car warms up?

3. will it cause the ecu to retard the timing?

If it's leaking externally, the outside of the injector will appear wet/shiny especially around the injector o-ring

unplug the injectors and try and start the car. if the car trys to kick at all then you know there is a leak

1. poor fuel consumption (might not be that noticeable)

2. rich spike(s) (if youve got an A:F ratio gauge, check it out.)

3. big carbon deposits on associated cylinder in the turbo mani (rich condition will leave unburnt fuel in the exhaust)

4. noticeable oil consumption (rich condition in 1 cylinder will wash the bore - again not that noticeable)

ecu shouldn't retard the timing, dont know how skyline ECUs are built, but most injected cars wouldnt

shouldnt depend on engine temp. a leak is a leak.

or just go replace the seals, they're like a few dollars each from your local spares shop, and while you're at it, might as well get your injectors cleaned out.

I paid like $20 bucks per injectors to get cleaned, pintle caps replaced, and new aftermarket seals to go on my old RB20 180SX. If you're around my hood, the place is called Ozzie Spares, it's on Sackville Road, Canley Vale.

if you got bad luck you will end up melting a piston like myself, no6 injector was fine did high speed run 280kph noticed it ping on the pfc backed off got backing into to garage noticed no 6 was leaking from the out side and that = one no6 piston gone!

never run high fuel presure to squeze more of you injectors cheaper to just get bigger ones.
