Hi there. Well, I went for a cruise today in Keir Wilson's 9 second

R32 GTR. Very impressive car - smooth, tractable, & awesome acceleration. What impressed me the most was how street driveable it really is.It idles well, can take off in 3rd gear, & putts through the gears at fairly low revs without a problem. It still has Air conditioning, power steering,2 seats & being an Australian delivered car, it is in impeccable condition.

Keir truly deserves the title of having the first Australian RH9 GTR.

Well done to him & his Willall racing team - great effort.

Cheers,

Munro.:D

Yes, a congratulations must go to Keir and his team, however records were made to be broken. Im sure you are not far off Munro, and there are a couple of potential cars in vic that are being built. Will make for an exciting summer. When is the next major meet?

Im going to heathcote on the 16th of november (unfortunately not to compete....yet:)) to see a meet.

I may stir up a few emotions, but is having a 3ltr GTR cheating?

what is an RH9? i'm guessing it has something to do with being in the 9 second bracket for 1/4 mile?? different engine.

i keep seeing it pop up every now and then, but never know what a RH9 Skyline is??

basically means a road registered 9 sec car... ie. u drive it there do ur run... oh look 9 seconds... drive it back home again :D

more or less... do a search in this or the wasteland on RH9 cause there is a post that someone made about the fastest GTR in australia in which there is a large explination into what it really means.

Why would 3ltr's be cheating? It's just another way to go about making power...

I know that there's a few Jap RH9 cars running around with the OS 3ltr conversion!

Go the 3ltrs! :D

I also know of a certain red 33 with a 3ltr:D I didnt really explain myself properly, while I would shudder at the expense and effort that goes into a 3ltr, and respect to all those people who have done it, there was a reason that nissan didnt build the 3ltr for the GTR, and that was to allow it to rev harder. Its the age old compromise between low down torque and top end revs.

Well, what do you think, it bloody flies. He cant put his foot down all the way with "normal" street tyres on 'cause it torque steers all over the place! Thats why fast GTRs are so much fun. They are a challenge to drive. The Holinger box is fantastic.Cant wait to get mine.

Nissan "chose" not to put a 3 litre in the GTR 'cause the RB30 does not exist in Japan, & neither did the very expensive 3 litre conversion at the time. You are right - the Australian RB30 will not rev like an RB26, but there are plenty of good engine builders out there that are screwing wild power out of RB30s.

The OS 3 litre engine is not a same stroke/larger bore like the RB30.It uses the same bore size as the RB26, but a much larger stroke(from 73.7mm to 86mm)hence the spacer plate.

These engines are quite happy at over 9000rpm & are extremely

flexible.

There is no such thing as cheating in Drag Racing.First over the line wins.Thats it.Whatever you can do to increase power - do.

More boost, better intercooler, etc etc.The oldest saying in the book is - there is no substitute for cubic inches.

:burnout:

Me thinks NOS is cheating. Only on the fastest street driven GTR though. The whole RH9 thing, they can do 9's without NOS. But anything else is fine by me. :D

Plus i think ANDRA should change the "street division" rules to only allow street legal tyres. You don't drive slicks on the road, so why should they be allowed in the street class. And while i'm at it road registered too. If you have a car solely used for drag racing, surely it's not that hard to get it into super street class. I know i would be upset to put money into a specific drag only car, and to be shit all over by a GTR that drove there.

The only reason people say that nitrous is cheating is because of it's prominence in TF&F. They don't want to sound like a ricer who loves the movie, so they say that nitrous is bad.

I see no difference between nitrous & any other non-legal modification (which most of them are). What seperates it from a pod filter or dragging without a catalytic convertor?

I would also like to say that there is nothing wrong with being a fan of TF&F, pretty much everyone here is whether they admit it or not.

true u cant say nos is cheating!

Nos is just another bolt on modification, otherwise u could easily say using c16/c21 fuel is cheating, running more than ..PSI boost is cheating!

Nahh - the only reason the 3ltr's don't rev as well is because they flow so much more air at any given rpm. Put some high lift cams with lots of duration, and you'll find that the 3ltr will flow plenty :D

In any case, I'll take you for a spin in my car next time I see you... The redline is at 7500rpm, and there's still around 300rwkw at that point :D

Denham,

I'll let you know at the end of the week, I'm taking it in for the final tune this week... :D

Re: Mods - nahh - it was all done at once... The turbo/manifold I've got were bought half way through the upgrade as my turbo at the time would have been too small for the rb30/25 combo.

I didnt mean to bag the 3 ltr crew, coz I know a few of them (inc Matty) just a spanner to throw into the works. Matty Id love a ride in the beast.

Whan I read Munro's comment saying "There is no such thing as cheating in Drag Racing.First over the line wins.Thats it." I never looked at it that way, thanks mate.

Hope this summer sets out to be one of the hottest for drag racing GTR's.

Which allows an engine to rev harder bore or stroke?

GO THE GTR!!!!

My NOS comment has no relevance to TF&F (big fan of this too). it is more a comment on the street class and skyline racing. Also a note to the abilities of the japanese to get nine second times from cars that generally (note..generally) wouldn't look out of place lined up in our street catogory. ie street legal tyres (barely, but still) exhaust, massive aerodynamics, manual gearbox etc etc.
