They say this car appears to have a genuine 24,000kms, who are they kidding, it does look a fair bit cleaner then the average import being shipped down under, have a look at the engine bay pics, that engine looks pretty tired..

if that car came from a certain supplier I wouldn't be surprised, they have a tendancy to deal in cars with wound back odo's from what I've been told by their customers and ex-employees :D

So much criticism.

Compared to some of the other complete shite heaps that pop up that looks like an exceptional car for the money. Stock standard and un-molestered, thats the best way to buy. The fact that paint has peeled off the plenum means nothing.

At the end of the day, the condition looks fairly consistant with the claimed km's (wether true km's or not) and the price is excellent.

The buyer got themselves a very nice car.

I actaully contacted Prestige about this car as I was very interested in it but I was too late....

According to Prestige (Geoff) the kilometers are genuine...."Supplier bought it cheaply from a friend of his who owns the car"

that's true, regardless of the kms it reads, its a really shmick car, and overall in pretty good condition. To date I'm yet to see an R33 GTR that has got a stock plenum without the orginial paint peeling.

The fact the paint has peeled off the plenum means alot I think..

How could an engine with 24k kms on it be in such shabby condition?

Like I said in my 1st post, it does look like a clean unmolested example, but those kms and engine condition dont add up..

Blitz: how many kms did your 33GTR have? Was the plenum like that ?

I admit that I dont have any experience with GTR like you, do all GTR engine look like that after 24k kms ?

'Peeling' of the paint on the intake manifold and cambelt cover looks like corrosion damage, and the alloy turbo pipe with the 'twin turbo' badge looks to have white, powdery aluminium alloy corrosion product on the upper surfaces. Corrosion like that usually occurs on parts that have 'sat around' for while, ie may not have been used very much, which could be consistant with the k's and the condition of the reat of the car. Could be a bargain.

Edit: corrosion damage could also occur if the car was exposed to a saltwater environment, but you'd also begin to see damage on a lot of other components in the enginebay (and even in parts of the body) if that occurred over any length of time, like since 1995 when the car was manufactured

SO he thought he would pass on the savings to the Aussie customer?

Isnt it their business to make money of selling cheap cars for an inflated price to the Australian domestic market?

Just because a car has less KMS then another, it doesnt mean the car with less kays is better..

I think you're thinking of some car dealerships, not brokers :D

Brokers make their money from their brokers fee, not by inflating the price. You should pay what they paid for the actual car - whether they source it from an auction or otherwise.

corrosion like that also happens when you wash the engine bay with truck wash and leave the stuff on there too long before rinsing it off....it will also take old paint off....much like that plenum.

Steve is on the money here. I am also going to add to this and say the car may have been driven in a cold climate up in northern parts of Japan. In Japan some prefectures salt the roads in winter and this has a really dramatic effect on cars.

The pictures scream salt damage to me. The underside of the car is probably corroded in places as well.

True, this is probably why the R34 GTR plenum is not painted.

My red RB26DETT is not peeling though, im sure they improved the paint in the R34 though.

    • Not sure the US can import anything other than the C34 Stagea's, but if you can and you need to to tow, DO NOT under any circumstances get an M35 Stagea. If it is just as a family car and your country/state allows it, absolutely and definitely get an M35 (3.5L if possible as it is effectively a 350Z) over a C34.

    • Thanks for that, I'll check it all out. I can always do the brakes last anyway if its a problem.  The 16's are super cool, if they do fit I'll cruise around with them for a bit.  
    • Well, that's kinda the point. The calipers might interfere with the inside of the barrels 16" rims are only about 14" inside the barrels, which is ~350mm, and 334mm rotors only leave about 8mm outboard for the caliper before you get to 350, And.... that;s not gunna be enough. If the rims have a larger ID than that, you might sneak it in. I'd be putting a measuring stick inside the wheel and eyeballing the extra required for the caliper outboard of the rotor before committing to bolting it all on.
