it wont run rich as such. Your ECU controls the flow. When you boost your car, the ECU will send more fuel to come in to avoid running lean.

The standard fuel pump can only release a certain amount of fuel so what this fuel pump does it increase the flow, in the end increasing performance and reducing the chance of engine damage and pinging.

any ideas if this would be a higher pressure / flow than an R32 GTR pump? i need another pump for the 240k, but not sure which to use as the main pump from the surge tank (as oppose to the pre pump from the tank)

Guys,

I might be out of line here but rather than asking a bunch of comparitive detailed questions of the guy organising the group buy, how about we all do our own research? You need to convince yourself that this is what you want. He is not selling it to you, he's getting it for you.

It's not like this pump is an unknown quantity and even on this very forum you will probably find all that you need. Perhaps as interested people do the searches they might like to post links to any good info that they find.

It's just that I've seen a smiliar sort of thing in a couple of group buys now and the person organising it can very easily get the shits with it all and decide it too hard then we all lose out.

Let's all help each other here.

:D

ok, to give some light on some of the questions ...

I bought one of these, and fitted it a couple of weeks ago, paid $200 for it shipped ... gah ..

anyway, i did do a thread on the forums about it but below is a list of things i found...

1. removal of the old pump is easy, the hardest part of removing the black screw ring around the tank access pannel.

2. everything just fits with this walbro ! the ONLY thing you have to modify is the electrical connections to plug in the new pump, but you get everything you need to do this anyway ... all you need for the mod is a pair of pliars.

3. you can easily use the existing mounting bracket, the new pump even comes with a rubber gromet / brush type thing that fits into the bottom of the bracket, and lets the new pump fit perfectly. you don't need the extra fuel tube that comes with the pump, or the clamps.

4. the new pump is a LOT thinner than the stocker, so does not sit flush against the bracket along the length of the pump, its not a prob as its held in pretty well on the top and bottom, i just decided to whack a couple of zip ties around it anyway ..

5. the sock filter from the stock pump fits directly onto the new pump, you don't need the filter that comes with the new pump.

6. it does not seem to run any richer than before with the new pump, the 255lph is only what it CAN deliver, not what it does deliver all the time ... your injectors, and pressure reg will control how much fuel the engine actually gets ...

and thats all i have to say about that ...

hope some of your questions may have been answered ...

cheers

Baz

Actually make that 5 pumps for me in total.

A couple of guys i know are after one so saves them making a new account etc.

thanks !

just one more note, i put a desk fan about 8' behind me on full power, just so that fumes escaping from the tank were not concentrated all in one place, the fan would disperse the fumes, and so should be less of an explosion risk ...

petrol fumes ignite pretty easily !

Like Mr Bob says.. there is plenty of info on thse in the forced induction section.. they are a nice fit for an R33 or R32.. and good for up to around 250rwkw, maybe a bit more.

When I analysed them apples for apples to an Bosch 910( using same pressure) they are pretty much the same as this.

So they are a great upgrade ! and easy to fit..1 hr if you don't even know what you are doing. Even as a safety precaution, as fuel pumps get old they start to flow less than optimally - at worst a dead pump under load can mean a dead engine.

Usual price on these is regularly $200, so if he is able to get them for $160 for 10 that is a good price..

AND (still interested)

    • Look for broken wire or bad connector at the motor. Might not be it, but is worth starting there, as it is easy.
    • Hi everyone, I’m having an issue with my R32 GT-R. Sometimes, when the car goes over a bump or experiences some vibration, the 4WD warning light comes on the dashboard. When I check the code from the control unit in the trunk, it shows Code 19 – ETS Motor. However, everything seems to be working fine — if I turn off the engine and restart the car, the light goes away and everything functions normally. Has anyone experienced this before? Where should I start troubleshooting this issue? Thanks in advance!
    • I'm back from the dyno - again! I went looking for someone who knew LS's and had a roller dyno, to see how it shaped up compared to everything else and confirm the powerband really is peaking where Mr Mamo says it should. TLDR: The dyno result I got this time definitely had the shape of how it feels on the road and finally 'makes sense'. Also we had a bit more time to play with timing on the dyno, it turns out the common practice in LS is to lower the timing around peak torque and restore it to max after. So given a car was on the dyno and mostly dialled in already, it was time for tweaking. Luis at APS is definitely knowledgable when it came to this and had overlays ready to go and was happy to share. If you map out your cylinder airmass you start seeing graphs that look a LOT like the engine's torque curve. The good thing also is if you map out your timing curve when you're avoiding knock... this curve very much looks like the inverse of the airmass curve. The result? Well it's another 10.7kw/14hp kw from where I drove it in at. Pretty much everywhere, too. As to how much this car actually makes in Hub Dyno numbers, American Dyno numbers, or Mainline dyno numbers, I say I don't know and it's gone up ~25kw since I started tinkering lol. It IS interesting how the shorter ratio gears I have aren't scaled right on this dyno - 6840RPM is 199KMH, not 175KMH. I have also seen other printouts here with cars with less mods at much higher "kmh" for their RPM due Commodores having 3.45's or longer (!) rear diff ratios maxing out 4th gear which is the 1:1 gear on the T56. Does this matter? No, not really. The real answer is go to the strip and see what it traps, but: I guess I should have gone last Sunday...
    • 310mm rotors will be avilable from Australia, Japan, and probably a few other places. Nothing for the front can be put on the back.
    • The filter only filters down to a specific size. Add to that, the filter is AFTER the pump. So it means everything starts breaking your pump even if its being filtered out.
